It was a dark and stormy night. The wind howled outside, rattling the windows of the old, abandoned house. Inside, a group of friends had gathered for a weekend of fun and adventure. They had heard rumors of strange happenings in the area, but they were young and reckless, and decided to investigate anyway.

As they sat around the fireplace, drinking and telling ghost stories, one of them suggested they play a game. "Let's all go outside and see who can stay out there the longest," he said. "Winner gets bragging rights."

The others agreed, and soon they were outside in the pouring rain, huddled under the porch awning. The wind was so strong that it was almost impossible to stand up straight. Lightning flashed overhead, illuminating the dark woods around them.

As the minutes ticked by, one by one the friends retreated back inside, unable to withstand the harsh weather. Only two remained: Jake and Emily. They stood there, shivering, staring out into the darkness.

Suddenly, Emily screamed. Jake turned to see what was wrong, but there was nothing there. Just the rain and the wind and the shadows.

"Emily, what's wrong?" he asked.

"I don't know," she said, her voice trembling. "I just felt something brush against me. Something cold and... and slimy."

Jake tried to calm her down, but he was starting to feel uneasy himself. There was something about this place that felt off. Something that made his skin crawl.

"Let's go back inside," he said. "This was a stupid idea."

They turned to leave, but as they did, they heard a noise coming from the woods. It sounded like a twig snapping, followed by the sound of heavy footsteps.

"Did you hear that?" Emily whispered.

Jake nodded. "We need to go. Now."

But as they started to run, something grabbed Emily's ankle, pulling her back. She screamed, and Jake turned to see her being dragged into the darkness.

He tried to grab her hand, but it was too late. She was gone, swallowed up by the night.

Jake stumbled back to the house, his heart pounding. He tried to explain what had happened, but his friends didn't believe him. They thought he was playing a prank on them, until they saw the fear in his eyes.

That night, they all tried to sleep, but none of them could. The storm raged on outside, and they could hear strange noises coming from the woods. It sounded like someone, or something, was walking around out there.

In the morning, they went out to search for Emily, but there was no sign of her. The police were called, but they couldn't find anything either. It was as if she had vanished into thin air.

As the days passed, strange things began to happen in the house. Doors would open and close on their own. Footsteps could be heard coming from empty rooms. And sometimes, when they looked out into the woods, they could see a figure standing in the shadows.

It wasn't long before the friends realized that they were not alone in the house. Something was there with them. Something that wanted them dead.

One by one, they began to disappear. The first was Mike, who was found hanging from the rafters in the attic. Then it was Jenny, who was found with her throat slit in the bathroom. And then it was Tom, who was found impaled on a fence post outside.

Jake was the last one left. He knew he had to get out of the house before it was too late. But every time he tried to leave, something stopped him. It was as if the house itself was holding him captive.

One night, as he lay in bed, Jake heard the sound of footsteps coming up the stairs. He knew he was the only one left in the house, so he grabbed a lamp and prepared to defend himself.

The door creaked open, and a figure stepped into the room. It was Emily. But she was different now. Her eyes were cold and empty, and her skin was ashen gray.

"Emily?" Jake whispered, his heart pounding in his chest.

She didn't answer. Instead, she walked towards him, her arms outstretched. Jake swung the lamp at her, but she didn't even flinch. She grabbed him by the throat, and Jake felt her icy fingers squeezing the life out of him.

He struggled to break free, but it was no use. He was trapped. And then, just before he passed out, he heard her whisper in his ear.

"We never left this place," she said. "And neither will you."

Jake woke up the next morning, alone in the house. He stumbled outside, gasping for air. He looked around, but there was no one there. Just the empty woods, and the sound of the wind.

Years later, a group of teenagers stumbled upon the abandoned house. They heard the rumors of strange happenings, but they didn't believe them. They went inside to explore, and they never came out. Some say they were never seen again. Others say they haunt the house to this day, their spirits trapped forever in the darkness.
