Just 30 mintues outside of a pretty busy city was a small town. A small town with a great big tale to tell, or was it a tale at all? Perhaps it was a true tale? I'll let you be the judge.

This was a small town of 1000 people living in it, if that. Everyone knew each other and most were pretty friendly to one another. In this small town There was one little ran down store with one pump for gas. It was surrounded by farming fields as far as the eye could see. With corn, strawberries, lettuce, grape trees and avocado trees. The weather was pretty cool all year around, but oh when it rained it poured. The roads which were very small to begin with would become mudy trails.

There was one thing that all towns people really agreed on. This would be not to walk by the only barn in town after dark. I really don't know if you'd even call it a barn though. It was green in color maybe when it was first built, now it's more of a faded light lime brown color, with broken boards along the window panes and broken windows. The barn door was open just a little for maybe a small cat or dog to fit through. You really couldn't see inside becasue it was way to dark. The towns people would talk about the one night that a young man went missing after walking by the barn at night. The young man had been missing for about a week they say before he was found far in the middle of the corn fields. He had appreared to have been dragged, scratched, his clothes were ripped to shreds, he was missing some hair and he was just dazed and confused. He kept yelling something about a huge winged animal that had swooped him up and flew him high up into the sky let him go to fall, but grabbed him again with his big clawed feet. He said he must of passed out because he was so scared and he woke up in the corn fields. The towns people took him to his house so that he could get cleaned up and they called a doctor to check him out. He seemed to be okay, but then he would have very bad dreams about what had happened to him. The young man died 3 months later. They say because he couldn't sleep and get over what had happen.

It had been about 2 weeks since the young man had past away. The towns people still wondered what really went on that night. What was the big flying animal that swooped him up. They decided to put it to the test. They choose 2 brave men to walk by the ran down old barn just after dark. One man walked in the middle of the street as the other walked closer to the old barn. As they got closer to the barn they could hear loud noises, and what sounded like thumping as they got even closer the noises stopped. The men looked at each other then looked at the old barn door. The barn door seemed to be opening slowly. The men stopped in their tracks they looked at each other then back at the barn door. Suddenly the barn door was completely open. The men in shock, their eyes wide open they some what tipped toed closer to the door. As they had almost approached the barn door they heard a loud "WHO! WHOOO!" The men looked up and started to run. They ran so fast and hid under an old truck. The men were still, didn't make a sound. They looked at each other with fear in their eyes. Just then the big flying animal landed on top of the old truck. The men could hear the animal making who whoo noices. The men must of been under the truck for a few hours. They didn't hear the animal no more. they said in a low voice let's make a run for it. The men agreed. They slowly started to crawl out from under the old truck. As soon as they both turned to run the big flying animal grabbed one of the men as the other ran. The one man who got away ran to a near by house where some of the towns people had been waiting for the men. When he got into the house and calmed down a little bit he started to tell the towns people what had happened to the men and how the other man was grabbed and he honestly didn't know where he was. The towns people asked the man what was the big flying aniaml. The man answered It's a Great Big Owl. The towns people couldn't believe their ears, but the man saw it. The other man who had been grabbed was never found.
