The Elevator Game

Some things are unexplainable, and one such mind-boggling incident occurred with a 21-year-old girl at the Cecil Hotel in America. She checked into the hotel but never managed to check out. Cecil Hotel, built in 1927, has long been believed to be haunted. Numerous guests have tragically committed suicide by jumping out of their room windows. Adding to its dark history, about 30 years ago, a notorious serial killer named Richard Ramirez stayed in the hotel and murdered 13 people in his room. It is said that his spirit still lingers within the hotel.

However, the most shocking event took place on a February morning in 2013. The hotel staff received numerous complaints about the water supply. Some rooms had no water at all, while others had black, muddy water running from their taps. When a staff member went to the tanks to investigate the issue, they made a horrifying discovery. One of the tank lids was open, and upon peering inside, the staff member found the lifeless body of a girl submerged in water. The girl was identified as Elisa Lam. Elisa had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and chronic depression, leading many to believe that she had taken her own life. Yet, numerous unanswered questions remained.

All the doors leading to the tanks were closed, so how did Elisa manage to reach there? Furthermore, how did she, on her own, remove the heavy lid of the water tank? No one has been able to definitively determine what exactly happened. Some speculate that a hotel staff member may have murdered her, while others believe that Richard Ramirez's spirit was responsible. Another intriguing theory suggests that Elisa was playing the elevator game.

On the night of her death, Elisa was last spotted in the hotel's elevator through CCTV footage. Her behavior in the footage was highly peculiar. Initially, she appeared to be hiding from someone, but then she saw someone in the corridor and went after them. Perhaps that someone was the ghost of Richard Ramirez, or maybe Elisa was experiencing hallucinations or glimpses of someone from the other world, as believed in the elevator game.

The elevator game is a method that some people believe can transport them to the realm of the dead. It involves entering a building with at least 10 floors, entering the elevator alone, and visiting each floor one after the other during the game. On the fifth floor, a woman from the world of the dead is said to enter the elevator, and the player must not look at her. When the player reaches the tenth floor, the elevator supposedly opens to a different world filled with spirits and ghosts. If the player forgets the correct sequence to return to our world, their spirit becomes trapped in the other realm. It is speculated that this may be what happened to Elisa.
