Tea For Two
To Spill The Tea

There was only one rule: don’t open the door.”
*
we felt the seal breaking
we heard you breathing at the door
we left a message stating
you shouldn’t go on, anymore
the note, scribbled in warm blood
still you refused to hesitate
with everything you’ve done
still moving on, you contemplate
we heard you jiggle at the handle
pushed your weight hard, with your hip
we whispered your name, Randal
tightened the devil’s burning grip
inside was sawdust on the floorboards
a mattress on the ground
a double shot of whiskey poured
with no-one else around
candles lit as shadows fall
flickered smoke spin webs of vague
a tea set on the table calls
answers for your last mistake
we warned you not to open
we knew you could not resist
we’ve been waiting for you, hoping
you hadn’t found your common sense
we know your every secret
collected here, kept in this space
you hoped we’d all forgotten
but we never forget a face
had you left the door unopened
we may have stayed here, out of sight
as it is now, you are groping
with your demons, full of fright
welcome home, boy, get yourself settled
don’t you worry, it’s all alright
the price, because you meddled
is the value of your life
