You are about to enter the realm of the unknown. A Realm where all realities collide. Where I control the ebb and flow of the narrative and can bring a haunting image to crystal clarity and beyond. For the next 1000 + words please allow me to take you on a Tale of Terror. My personal real life stories from the Paranormal and the other side!

---------------------------------------------

During one of my Gaming sessions we got into chatting about what scares us most. I had mentioned that I was an avid Ghost Hunter and saw many crazy things during my adventures. It was during this time I learned of the tale of The Cursed Tarot Cards. Our gaming team member who went by Good ol Blue at the time told us of this tale. It all revolved around these ancient old tarot cards and a very good friend and neighbor of his.

Now both lived in an older town in an around an Old Plantation. This plantation itself was considered one of the most haunted places in the area. It was an estate that had been passed down throughout the generations.

No one dared lived there due to the hauntings which took place. When the grandmother eventually passed the mother brought the now older grandchildren to sell off heirlooms of the estate. It was during this time that the old cards were found in an old ornate box.

Now these weren’t your normal run of the mill Parker Bros cards. These were special. The kind that were hand made. While Blue couldn’t quite tell us exactly how old these cards where he did mention that the owners have had them for many generations.

For generations wealth was with the family however many of the adult men rarely lasted a few years. While some would consider this odd many often looked passed this factoid simply because back then men worked hard while the women stayed at home looking after the kids. The life expectancy of a man back then was much lower than it is today.

Still there was always something odd about the way these men would pass Blue would say. The tale goes that whom ever held the cards were given blessings however unbeknownst to the female heir these blessings would come with a price.

The cards themselves would need a tithe, something in return for blessing the owner of the cards. This tithe of blood was bound upon the transfer of the cards from the elder woman to the next.

When the grand daughter was given the cards by her mother she held them dear thinking. “Wow, something my family has had that was passed down through the generations is now mine. What an honor this must be.

Now she did always wonder why her Grandfather and his brothers had died so abruptly while they were all young. But again she really didn't put much on it as people come and go she thought.

She did find it odd that her Father and Uncles had passed rather quickly in succession however again she just played it off as circumstance.

Holding the cards in hand she was honored and pleased. Now Blue would go on and tell us that the mother also knew of the ancient pact with the cards but never fully divulged the tithe required. She simply told the daughter that the cards would bring good fortune but that all good fortunes would come with a price. The daughter not believing in Religion and being an atheist thought nothing of it.

As the story goes the daughter in possession of the cards began to find new found luck winning some lottery scratchers and such. She then got a nice promotion and raise within her company. Things started looking good.

She remembered what her mother had told her about these cards. That they were designed to bring the holder luck. And that the cards should never be played but placed in the ornate box in a position of gratitude. An altar of sorts. So the daughter placed them inside of a hutch which was also a heirloom from her late deceased grandmother.

As time passed the money and good fortune started rolling in. Things seemed good until the father got sick. It hit suddenly. He got cancer and shortly within a few months he had passed due to its aggressive nature.

Again thinking it was sheer circumstance the daughter was sad but things were really looking up. Then tragedy would strike again. Her oldest son became terribly ill. She then began to question how this was possible as both her husband and son were healthy before the cards.

She turned to her mother for help. The mother then shared with her a letter from her grandmother. I. This letter the true revelation of the cards came to be.

Blue was hesitant at first to tell us what exactly the letter said but eventually he told us as he said he would never forget the look of terror on his friends eyes when she told him what it read.

“These cards have been blessed with an oath of lineage and a tithe of blood. That whomever holds them great blessing will befall but that the men of the house will pay with their blood for that is the price of success.”

I gulped. I then quietly asked Blue what happened next. Blue said that his friend was frantic. That everything finally made sense. She had lost her husband due to her new found success but at the cost of her husband. She had lost him and was not about to lose her son.

She asked Blue for help and the only thing they could think of was to burn the cards and get rid of them. So the grabbed them and lit the fire place. The waited to get a good flame going then threw the entire deck into the flame.

According to Blue the cards didn’t burn. In fact they just sat in the flames. Terrified at this point they began to add more and more wood to intensify the flame. This continued on for a few hours as the cards did not burn. Finally around 3 am (crazy time right) the cards began to burn.

As they burned Blue remembers that the flames didn’t make a crackle noise but more of a shrieking noise. This scared both of them. Finally the cards burnt out. They gathered the ashes and buried them deep in the dirt dousing them with holy water a cross and covering them up never to be found again.

Happy the son began to turn around and in a weeks time he had fully recovered. Happy now the daughter went to go tell the mother the great news. The mother was happy that the son recovered but when the daughter mentioned the cards and told her that she had burnt them the mother was terrified.

“Why did you do that?” She said

“You have just condemned me to death!”

The daughter scoffed and told the mother that she was over reacting. Sadly one week later the mother died of a massive heart attack. So there you have it. One of the scariest tales of Tarot cards I have ever heard! Was this all a coincidence? Perhaps... you decide!
