Horror fiction that delivers on its promise to scare, startle, frighten and unsettle. These stories are fake, but the shivers down your spine won't be.
Shadow Fight
Jung believed that dreams are our conscious and subconscious’ way to meet on neutral ground. This allows us to learn from our subconscious mind and better our lives in the conscious realm of existence. He postulated that all things in life are paired in opposites. Good and evil, love and hate, joy and pain. He believed the opposite part of the ego is the counter-ego, better known as ‘the shadow’.

Merlot Over Blood
It was fall of 2031. Humans lived in a world where they can coexist with vampires and werewolves. The appearance of a vampire included pale skin and bright red eyes in addition to sharp, one-inch fangs. A werewolf would have a widow’s peak and bright yellow eyes. Anger would transform them into full werewolf mode with fuller and thicker body hair and large pointy teeth. All species had to follow a law that said that one shall not attack nor kill another specie unless it was out of self-defense.

Walking Away
The photo she held in her hand spoke of simpler times, now long gone. “We took the park path often, moving through the grass and trees from the subway station to our home on the far side of the city park. The kids loved the walk, and they loved that I would let them lead the way, staying behind just enough so they could feel like ‘big kids’.”

The Crystal Book
Perceval and Jax stalk through the woods in search of fabled adventure, following a path carved out by desire. The fat one walks gracefully, whereas the tall one walks with a casual demeanor, occasionally going out of his way to squash something just to hear it squish. “The Old Ogre lives in these woods,” Jax tells his younger brother. It's where he goes hunting. If you see them, flee as quickly as possible, because if he catches you, he'll eat you alive in sticky bird-lime.” Perceval, a pudgy 7-year-old ogre with rosy-red and freckled cheeks, follows his skinnier and taller brother, his three-years-older-than-him, three-foot-taller-than-him, twin, through tree cover over wet grass in search of something stomped on previously, much like the poor flowers crushed by wandering monsters looking for the treasure of nature or other children escaping a monster corrupted world.

Merlot
We sit across from each other. The merlot is already intoxicating my veins and their long fingers have begun to caress my hand from the other side of the candle lit dining table. Their presence is hypnotic, alarmingly so. It's like I've known them my entire life, but that can’t be because we have only just met?

The Widow
It was six hours past-midday in early November as Kate Parker sat quietly in her kitchen, soaking in the endless boredom that had begun to settle into her mind as she stared down a glass of orange juice that was left on the table from earlier that day. Outside had become cold, dark, and gray, and a light drizzle took its time to settle in while the young woman simply stared at the glass, the sides of which began to show evidence of the former cool state of the glass as beads of water dripped down the side and onto the cloth which spread out across her old pinewood table. It had been nearly two years since a horrible day, the last day she saw her husband, and it was coming up on that particular day's anniversary within the week. Content with her day as it was, the young woman continued to sit at the table, staring down the glass of what used to be cold orange juice.

The Well
My eyes shot open and stared into the dark room where I had laid down for a nap. I rose quickly, the room spinning as I did. I let a few moments pass while I collected myself before making my way to the window and throwing open the curtains. The sun was setting below the tree line of the forest that surrounded the house, hazy light casting long eerie shadows across the yard. I could just make out the old well on the corner of the property. It was an old stone well you would see in a cartoon. Long since fallen out of use, it was currently capped off with heavy wooden slab. A sense of deja vu washed over me, quickly followed by terrible dread. I shook my head and turned to leave the room. The sense of dread followed me down to the kitchen.

The Backpack
My two friends and I were going on a hiking trip in the Swiss Alps. It was something that we all were very excited about and had planned for months. We were all avid hikers and were all looking for new experiences, so when we heard that hiking in the Alps would be an adventure of a lifetime, we just had to cross it off our bucket lists.
