fiction
Horror fiction that delivers on its promise to scare, startle, frighten and unsettle. These stories are fake, but the shivers down your spine won't be.
A Well Cooked Meal
There are many thoughts one has in these types of situations. But there is only one I can hear repeatedly, louder than the rest, 'Where did I mess up?' Staring at the glass cup as it rolls along the floor, resting against the table leg, the contents form a pool around it. The man kneels in front of me, muffling something that I can't quite make out before the room goes black.

Purgatory
"I am lost. I am afraid. I am trapped in a void of darkness, roaming till no end, bumping into walls that are not there. Endlessly running from fate, from judgment. Running from the two who put me here. I have always cast my fate into the wind, but here there is no wind, no air. When you die, I was told that you no longer feel pain, but here in this endless void of a jail cell, pain is the only thing I know. I die every day, expecting to learn something, but the ending is all the same. The two men who killed me waste no time to do it again endlessly, with no mercy. The pain I feel is numb. Numbness confines my whole body. Leaving me to replay the events that lead me here."

Dinner Date
Raissa was furious. And nervous. But above all she was exhausted. She opened the door to her apartment number 217, kicked off her Christian Louboutin high heels and sank on her large sofa. She looked at her clock above the television: 6:17pm. She grabbed her silk pillow behind her, held it firmly between her hands, pushed her face into it and screamed.

"Dry Land"
We returned home from our long voyage all eager to see our families again. Some men were just eager to get back and find a saloon to drink the night away in as we had run out of rum weeks ago. Nonetheless, we all shared the same thought, dry land. It will be nice to be on solid ground even for seasoned sea dogs like us.

Siren
She was still standing there when we made our way back down the beach. I walked Bailey past here at least an hour ago and this girl was stood in the same place, the water had come in closer to the end of her long skirt. She had her shoes in her hand and the waves lapped over her feet. Her long hair flowed in the wind as she just stared out at the water. She wore no coat, just a vest top. I could feel the chill from the ocean wind and had no idea how she had managed to handle it for so long.

Midnight Moonlit Love
We were set to meet at 6 pm. Time had always presented itself as an issue for me. Some race to meet the deadline of a perfect gentleman standard or tardiness that claimed itself fashionable. Reservations at the finest joint in town, perhaps a claim to an often expected false status. I downed a few cocktails before leaving the house to calm the current of electricity that crashed against my nerves. This would be my first date in two years and four months. My last sexual partner believed it acceptable to remove her glass eye during sex and announce herself cycloptic as if humor pronounced normality. She was a traveling carnie, dedicated explicitly to constructing the thrill ride that disconnected in Boston and left at least a dozen occupants ghosts in response to wailing mothers. This left my emotions sidelined, and only one thing brought feeling back to the empty, the high of asphyxiation. I imagined it some sort of breath of relief from the smells of an animal auction. She wore a mouth like a can opener and a Motley Crue sweater from the 88 tour. It still smelled of a waffle house bathroom. I swear I could just make out some siren song, but only a peg leg would be a fool for those orgasmic hymns, yet somehow I found myself utterly powerless to her lack of charm. I swore to myself that I would never use Christian mingle again, but here I was, a fool to edited photographs, a fool to the truth of robotic romance, a fool to the bitter end.

Jessie's Lesson
With a final shudder the little, red Daewoo came to a grinding halt. Plumes of thick, red dust swirled up through the windows, before finally settling on Jessie's blonde hair. She was stuck in the middle of nowhere and it was like the sun had come to earth, it was that hot.

Invaded: Chapter 1
It’s pretty shit around this time of year, weather-wise. Now, on a global scale from 1-10, I would say it's… fucked. I could elaborate on that right now, but the major point of this very moment is, it’s cold as shit. I’m sitting here shivering in this shitty trash-wreaked trailer with nothing to do.

Unknown Caller
The smoke carried off into the wind as my cigarette burned between my fingers. I placed it in between my soft, pink lips to take my last puff. I tossed the cigarette into the ashtray right as I felt my phone begin to vibrate from my back pocket. I pulled the phone out to reveal my screen was lit up with the words Unknown Caller.

The Strain
Every night as I lay in silence in my bed I can hear the forest whispering my name. A place my friends and I called a second home when we were teens growing up in the farm town of Credemore. A place that is now tainted with guilt and sorrow. It's a place that makes me nauseous when thinking about it, but I can't stop thinking about it. My friends names were Elana and Jake. I was like an extension of thier family. When I sat alone at lunch they were always there, when I was trapped in the prison of my quiet room they always called and had some adventure to embark on, and now they're gone.
