fiction
Horror fiction that delivers on its promise to scare, startle, frighten and unsettle. These stories are fake, but the shivers down your spine won't be.
The Book of Slender Man
Ten year old Jaxon and best friend Tanner ripped down the trail on their bicycles through the woods behind their neighborhood. The boys vaulted over jumps, slid around corners, zipped down narrow paths and raced across shortcuts they knew by heart. They were on their way to the convenience store on the far side of the wooded acres.

Chicken Wing
Ruby’s beady black eyes followed Heidi’s every move as she gingerly patted the dusty shelf overhead. Goosebumps tickled her neck as the sticky cobwebs clung to her fingers. Resisting the urge to run out of the musty chicken coop she tiptoed to reach higher. She took a quick peek at the hen on the perch, unnerved at the hen’s statue-like stillness. Heidi shuffled a little farther into the dimness as the glittery eyes followed her. She needed to find that little black book! The hen silently watched. Heidi knew it was irrational, but she was afraid to turn her back on the old biddy. Swallowing down her anxiety she again hastily patted the shelf. Metal clanged as her fingers painfully rammed a metal box. Ruby’s wings fluttered behind her which spurred her to snatch the box and sprint out the door with squeal.

Peer Pressure
“Jenny, where are you taking us?” I’m not hiding the irritation in my voice anymore. I’ve been following Jenny through tent cities and dark alleys for blocks. Eventually, we’re going to stumble across the wrong person and she’s going to get us mugged with her shiny rings and flashy purse.

I Am Alive.
The hunter left his old, battered truck on the outskirts of the forest. Years of work and toil on the farmland betrayed the flayed paintwork and creeping rust. He did take liberties with how close he drove to his target's den, but the strong winds and mist would help stealth his approach. He crouched to inspect the frozen ground, noting how fast the tracks were disappearing under the next barrage of snow.

Property of M.Gardiner
A flicker of green caught her eye. No, that couldn't be right. Julie Gardiner whipped around from where she had been hastily combing her hair in front of the mirror and sure enough there she saw a bundle of clean if slightly crinkled twenty dollar bills poking out from the top drawer of her dresser. She gasped, the plastic comb that had previously been in her hand clattered to the floor as she rushed over to see whether her eyes were deceiving her.

Montgomery Homestead
Walking in the woods was just something I liked to do. The early morning autumn air was brisk, and the remnants of last night’s fog dribbled off the pine needles before the cold air could trap them in the tree till spring. I walked because I needed to be out. Away. This was likely my last chance before winter sets in and I become trapped in domesticity for months.

The Truth
This is a small piece of fan fic set in the world of ‘Monster Hunter International’ It is my hope that through fate, karma, people talking to him, bribery, sexual favors or whatever, Larry Correia would find his way this and give it a good read. I would love to get his input and insights. Of course to be able to team up with him to transform this fan fic to a real book and canon for that world that I do so enjoy reading about.

For My Big Brother
March 3rd I always kind of hated my brother. Well, hate is a strong word. I just always hated how easy everything was for him. He’s two years older than me, but everything just comes so easily for him. In highschool, he was in ROTC, taking courses in criminal justice so he could get a leg up on his law enforcement career, and had a string of friends and girlfriends to make his highschool years amazing. He never seemed to study, always retained what he needed for tests, and finished his highschool years half a year early with a nearly perfect GPA. He didn't need to, he could have gone straight to the police academy, but he chose to join the Army for four years; saying it was his “duty to his country. He served as an MP and later as a base investigator for base related crimes. When he got out, he was practically ready to start police work already.

Kindling. Top Story - March 2021.
Waking was akin to clawing his way through a tunnel of cobwebs only to break through a soggy layer of mildewed cardboard. That is to say; it was grossly unpleasant. His eyes were closed still, but he let the night seep into his ears. There were no sounds of cars on the nearby street, no late-night flights skimmed the roof. It must have been that mysterious time between bar close and when the city resumes its relentless hamster wheel cycle of a new day.
