Manifesting The Darkness
My fingers release the small black book as it smacks the white wall in front of me I fall to my knees. Warm tears stream down my face. " I don't want it any more please take it away." I scream hoping it will hear me and answers my plea as it did before. I feel a dark presence behind me. " You humans always wanting more this and more that this is why we don't help you anymore, you guys never know what you want." The presence takes form of a small women in an all black ball gown with scarlet colored lips and flushed pale skin.

Resonance
"Auggie, Come on! Move your freaking legs! Now... Please!" Rae Mi all but shrieked through her tears. Panic was in higher supply than oxygen. August planted himself like the roots of some great and ancient tree into the sidewalk as soon as he and his sister emerged from the alley. The very topography of Rae Mi's flesh changed as she conjured thoughts of escaping the narrowing maw of a red throated behemoth. With her last bit of energy left she pulled August tightly to her chest. Tight enough so that she was certain it hurt her as much as it did the freshly uprooted, great and ancient five year old in her arms. The vehicles beyond the curb raced by at impossible speeds, but space was molasses. The HAT was now no more than twenty terrible yards from success. She could not allow them to be captured. Rae Mi battened her eyes shut and took ten desperate steps into traffic.

Blank Page
Lottie walked out of the attorney’s office and onto the bustling sidewalk, gripping a small black notebook and a check for twenty thousand dollars. Of course Doug would pull something like this. Even after five years of marriage, Lottie had learned little about him. He claimed that his secretive nature was the key to his success, but she suspected that he just enjoyed keeping her in the dark. She barely knew what his work entailed. She had no idea how much he was actually worth. He used to spend hours every evening filling out these small black notebooks, never letting her see them or even telling her what he was writing about. The most profound thing she had known about him was that he enjoyed collecting beautiful objects, meant to be displayed and never touched. Most of the time she had felt like another art piece in his collection.

Summertime Living Is Easy
His favorite name was Gina. I often wondered if it was the reason he liked my name so much. “Nina, as in Nina Simone,” he’d say, playfully punching my arm before his voice trailed off into soft, meandering verses of “Summertime” as he exited the living room, tickling the keys of the piano as he walked out and leaving behind him a great big shadow of doubt.

A very popular high end consignment store. I was so exhausted that day and couldn’t wait to get off. Black Bird
People were screaming, everyone on board flight AA231 was panicking. It was approaching midnight. The flight attendants tried to reassure the passengers that everything would be okay. However, I could sense the subtle change of pitch in one of their tones. That reassurance was merely an attempt to mask the ugly truth, that we are all going to perish. All that can be heard are men crying like babies. Babies, being denied the attention of their unresponsive mothers. As I sat there, buckled into my seat, the terror began to clench my heart. My hands drenched in sweat were clamped onto the armrests, clueless as to what to do. Never had I witnessed mankind in such a state.
