Season 7 Of 'The Walking Dead' Hits Screens Next October (2016)

We all pretty much knew this was going to happen — The Walking Dead will have a seventh season in the franchise. Since it first began airing in 2010, it's been a huge hit on AMC. Season 7 is to air around Halloween time, too, so the coming season could be even bigger and better!

AMC officially announced that we will see a seventh season around the same time as New York Comic Con, which of course is a Walking Dead tradition. Season 6 was perhaps the strongest season the show has enjoyed, with more viewers than any other. The target audience for the show is 18- to 49-year-old males and females. The most recent episode of Season 6 had a viewership of more than 18 million.

Whilst we're on the subject of renewals, Talking Dead, hosted by Chris Hardwick, is set to continue as well. Talking Dead has been around pretty much since The Walking Dead first aired six years ago. The talk show does a splendid job at helping people process their emotions after the episode has finished.

AMC President Charlie Collier had this to say about both shows being renewed:

When, on the third shake, ‘without a doubt’ filled the murky blue screen, we knew we had to proceed with new seasons of The Walking Dead and Talking Dead. We are grateful for and continually impressed by the talent, effort and excellence on continuous display by Robert Kirkman, Scott Gimple, Chris Hardwick and the many unique people with whom we partner to make these unique shows possible. The result: More Walking and Talking. Horray.”
