Lisa, The Stream goddess chapter 23-By Noah Adetilewa

Result of Lustful Eyes

The outside world was unknown to her, but she could see a glimpse of it through the window in his room.

Prince Adeola could not get the beautiful face of Shewa out of his head; he wished to possess her body in his hands. And he later told his mother about his love for Shewa, but his mother said; “Adeola, it is a taboo in our tradition for a prince who is already engaged to a woman in this kingdom to turn around and cancel the engagement! Don’t even mention it to your father; and you must remember that Adelabu is your childhood friend and he is also a prince from another kingdom; don’t start a war between two kingdoms because of a woman!”

Prince Adeola left his mother’s room disappointed with his mother’s attitude. He decided to eliminate prince Adelabu, break his engagement; and get married to Shewa as soon as possible. Prince Adeola could not bear the thought of seeing Shewa in the hand of prince Adelabu; after all, Shewa’s house and clinic are in his territory; he said to himself.

Few days later, prince Adeola visited Shewa in her clinic and he was ushered into her office. She received him cheerfully, and asked; “My prince, what brought you to my clinic, are you having any eye problems?” Adeola looked at Shewa’s radiant face, and declared; “You are my problem Dr. Shewa; how can you establish your clinic in this community only for you to get involved with a neighboring prince?”

Shewa was really angry with prince Adeola’s attitude; but she controlled her anger considerably before she responded; “You are already engaged to marry a woman in this community prince Adeola; and the last time I checked, I am at liberty to fall in love with any man of my choice; and you are not my choice prince Adeola!” Adeola got up angrily and said; “We shall see about that!” And he stormed out of her office. Shewa was shocked about prince Adeola's shameless lust for her flesh.

Shewa informed her mother, the goddess about the implied threat of prince Adeola; “I am aware of his plan to kill prince Adelabu, and then cancel his formal engagement with his fiancée and marry you in due course.” Shewa was visibly shaking by what her mother revealed to her; “Please mother, don’t allow that swine to do any harm to my love; I forfeited my immortality just to be with Adelabu, and not with any other man!” she cried.

Lisa, the stream goddess placed her hand on Shewa and said; “Don’t worry your pretty head about that foolish prince Adeola, if not because the Man in the Light had warned me never to harm any human being again, I would have destroyed the idiot, but I will show him that his plan to kill his friend because of a woman would never work.”

Prince Adeola visited prince Adelabu at Akilo palace, Adelabu received his friend very well, and he took his friend to his private quarters, and Adelabu entertained Adeola as usual with roasted goat meat and undiluted palm wine. Later, Adelabu left his friend alone to visit the toilet, and Adeola used the opportunity to drop some poisonous powder into Adelabu’s cup of palm wine; the prince later returned from the toilet and drank his poisoned palm wine without suspecting anything.

Adeola was very happy when his friend drank the poisoned palm wine to the last drop; Adeola later returned to Odogbagede, to wait for the harmful result of the poison.

Two days later, he sent a spy to Akilo community to know why there was no news of prince Adelabu’s death.

As the spy entered the community, and before he could ask any question from the people, he saw prince Adelabu in his car with Dr. Shewa as both of them just returned to Akilo’s palace. The spy came back to prince Adeola and reported what he witnessed in Akilo community to his prince. “Alright my friend; if rat poison failed to kill you, let’s see if your body can stop a bullet,” he said to himself.

Few days later, hired killers stopped prince Adelabu’s car as he was returning alone to Akilo community; they rained bullets into his chest; and when they noticed the bullets were not penetrating into his flesh; they all dropped their guns and fled from the scene.

Prince Adelabu was shocked when he realized he was still alive, all the window glasses and the wind shield were shattered into pieces, and there were bullet holes on the driver’s side door; what could be responsible for his protection against bullets? He wondered aloud! He gently came down from his car and picked the three AK47 guns from the floor; he entered his battered car and drove back to Akilo palace. King Ologbenla and his cabinet chiefs wrongly thought the assassination attempt was for political reasons.

The king later surrendered the three AK47 machine guns to the police who promised to investigate the assassination attempt.

That same night, Lisa, the stream goddess visited king Olusegun in the dream, and she revealed all the evil attempts which prince Adeola carried out on prince Adelabu because he wanted Shewa for himself; she warned king Olusegun to stop his son from further attempt on the life of prince Adelabu, otherwise, prince Adeola shall die in the attempt if he should try to kill the innocent prince again.

Lisa, the stream goddess also visited prince Adelabu in the dream and revealed the same evil agenda of his friend to him. Prince Adelabu told his father about the strange dream; and king Ologbenla with the prince and the mother of prince Adelabu came to pick Shewa in her clinic and drove straight to king Olusegun’s palace for an urgent meeting. There were two plain clothe police officers who came to join the visitors before they enter the palace.

Without wasting time, king Ologbenla accused Adeola directly when they were all seated in the Royal court; “Adeola, why did you try to kill Adelabu your childhood friend twice?” King Olusegun was very surprised that king Ologbenla knew all about what his son did to his friend; Adeola did not know that two policemen were in the Royal court with them, and before his father could say anything, Adeola cried out; “I don’t know what came over me; all I can say is to ask Adelabu’s forgiveness for my attempt on his life twice!”

King Olusegun stood up angrily and shouted; “You are a fool Adeola; how on earth would you want to kill a friend because you wanted his woman to yourself; and you are saying you don’t know what came over you after you attempted killing that friend twice! You tried first with a rat poison and when that one failed; you then sent three hired killers with three AK47 machine guns! Adeola, you just lost the throne of Odogbagede; you will never be a king after me! If not for the timely protective shield which Lisa, the stream goddess put around Adelabu when he was shot several times; you would have foolishly wasted his life because of a woman you can never marry!”

Adeola wept bitterly as the two plain clothe Police men arrested him and led him out of the palace. Adeola was silently grateful to Lisa, the goddess; who stopped him from becoming a murderer on two occasions. The accused prince was later charged to court on two counts charge of conspiracy and attempted murder; he was found guilty on the two count charges, and was justly sentenced to ten years imprisonment with hard labor for his crime.
