Girl on the Third Floor was released in the movies in the United States on March 25, 2019. The 93-minute psychology horror movie is now being streamed on Netflix. It is listed in the network's top 10 films in the United States. It has received an 80 percent score among critics. Some people who have seen the movie posted on social media that it is "the scariest movie" they have ever seen. Others say they sleep with the lights on at night after watching the movie.

The story begins with nothing seeming to be out of the ordinary. However, things change as the thriller continues. Viewers can't wait to see what's coming next because mysterious things keep happening.

Setting

Girl on the Third Floor was filmed in a real haunted house located in Frankfort, Illinois. The script is not based on a true story, but it was inspired by a combination of many reported hauntings. The haunted house is located across the street from a church. Before the mansion went up for sale, it was used as a brothel with many people going in and coming out of it.

Kevin Ziegler owned the house for the last 13 years. He related what occurred in the house before it was used in the movie. A 12-year-old girl worked as a maid in the house in 1901. She was murdered after she was mistaken to be a sex worker. In 1909, another girl died of an illness. Both girls died in the same third-floor bedroom.

Characters

The main character is Don Koch, played by Phillip Brooks. He is an ex-lawyer who wants a fresh start for himself and his pregnant wife Liz, played by Trieste Kelly Dunn. Liz hasn't moved to the mansion, but her husband keeps her up to date on what is going on when they talk to each other on the telephone.

Don's neighbor Ellie warns him about the house and tries to get him to leave, but he never does. Sarah, another neighbor, visits Don often. She flirts with him until Don eventually gives in and cheats on his pregnant wife.

Plot

The new homeowner tries to impress his pregnant wife by buying a Victorian mansion that needs a lot of repairs. Koch attempts to handle the renovations all by himself to prove to his wife and to himself that he can get the job done.

Koch finds the project too much for him to handle, but he keeps trying. Viewers watch him in scene after scene knocking out walls to fix a problem. As soon as he thinks he has one problem solved, he discovers another one.

Ending (Without Spoilers)

As with many horror movies, Girl on the Third Floor ends with people dying. To spare readers from knowing the ending of the movie, there are no spoilers here. Instead, Girl on the Third Floor is recommended to fans of thrillers and horror movies so they can see the surprise ending themselves. They will discover the sex of Don and Liz's baby as well as finding out who died and if Don completed his renovations.

Those who watch Girl on the Third Floor will admit that the movie has many elements of a horror movie. Viewers will see disturbing themes, supernatural occurrences, shadows, dark images, creepy things, spooky music, twists and turns, surprises, and plenty of mystery and suspense.

Watch this film to satisfy your hunger for horror movies. If you enjoy it, recommend it to others on social media and to your family and friends who might like it also. Just remember not to share any spoilers.
