Netflix knows a thing or two about horror movies. The American media-services provider and production company always has a long list of horror movies available. It has made some good suggestions for films to watch and enjoy around Halloween. Therefore, if you love spooky and scary movies, Netflix has you covered.

You don't have to wait until Halloween to watch the horror films. Some of them are available now and other are becoming available before Halloween. The eight suggested movies are all worth watching. Watch some or all of them.

We Have Always Lived in the Castle - September 14

Released on September 14, We Have Always Lived in the Castle is a twisted mystery about two sisters, played by Alexandra Daddario and Taissa Farmiga, who don't want to leave their house. Their cousin Charles, played by Sebastian Stan, tries to get them to leave the castle so he can steal their money. Watch to see how successful he is in accomplishing his goal.

In the Shadow of the Moon - September 27

In the Shadow of the Moon will be available on September 27. It is a scary movie like none other. It is about a serial killer who comes around only once every nine years. In the Netflix original, a Philadelphia detective Thomas Lockhart, played by Boyd Holbrook, is obsessed with finding out why the killer commits his crimes only in nine-year increments. Lockhart stumbles across some startling details that will keep you on the edge of your seat as you try to solve the case yourself. Watch it to find out the real reason for the delay in the killings.

Scream 2 - October 1

If you see a 2 after a film title, you wouldn't be wrong to assume that the original movie was successful. If you watched the original Scream on Netflix and loved it, then you will not be disappointed if you watch the sequel. Wes Craven's 1997 sequel to the original hit will be available on Netflix on October 1.

In the Tall Grass - October 4

American writers Stephen King and his son Joe Hill wrote a frightening short story together. It was advertised for people not to read it just before going to bed. In the Tall Grass is just that scary. The horror movie stars Patrick Wilson and Rachel Wilson (not related) as a brother and sister on a road trip through middle America. They encounter a boy with his dog in tall grass. The boy calls out to the siblings who follow him further and further into the grass until they cannot find their way out. Watch the horror film when it premieres on October 4 on Netflix. Consider not watching the film just before going to bed.

Fractured - October 11

Fractured is another road trip from hell that will keep you glued to your television set. It will be released on October 11 and stars the iconic actor Sam Worthington as a father who takes his daughter to the emergency room for a broken arm. He falls asleep and wakes up to find that his daughter and wife have disappeared. The worst part of the situation is that no one admits seeing them in the hospital. When the loving father tries to find out information about his family, he refuses to believe what he hears.

Sinister 2 - October 16

Sinister 2 is the sequel to the original 2012 horror film. It is the story of a family on the run from an abusive father. Even though the family members believe they have escaped the torture imposed on them by their own relative, they are misled. See for yourself what happens to the family that is still in the grips of the abusive parent. Sinister 2 airs on October 16.

Eli - October 18

The central character in Eli is sick with a mysterious illness in a haunted house. His physician is not as trustworthy as most doctors are. This is indeed a mystery combined with scary things from the beginning to the end of the film and everything in between. Watch it after it is released on Netflix on October 18. See for yourself what the disease is and how Eli copes with it.

Rattlesnake - October 25

In Netflix original film Rattlesnake, a desperate mother in the middle of nowhere was told by a mysterious stranger what would save her daughter's life after she was bitten by a rattlesnake. What the stranger tells the mother is not found in any medical book. What the mother must do to save her daughter's life is unbelievable. So, what will the mother decide? Watch the horror movie when it airs on October 25 and find out. Then ask yourself what you would have done.

What to Watch

The wonderful thing about Netflix is that if you have an account, you can watch as many movies as you like. Therefore, don't feel that you have to pick and choose from the eight horror movies described above. You can watch all eight or as many as you want while they are available on Netflix through October 31.
