The Moreau Witches: Black Abyss
So, this was grief. She could feel the cold, alien fingers taking hold of her. Squeezing. Choking. The very air seemed impossible to breathe. She dropped to her knees, her white dress of silk and cotton now ruined by mud and blood.

SENT TO KILL ME
She had her back turned to the wall beside my gate with her head resting there as well. I noticed she was crying profusely. Her dress was stained with blood -- the butt area. She was about 12 years of age. I walked towards her and gently turned her over. Her eyes were swollen.

The Ashen Horse
The assassin slowly watched the sunset over the coastline. She was patiently awaiting the dark, for it was the dark when she came alive. The rest of the time she was just an imposter, but it was in the night when she was her true self. Only in the silence of the night.

The Unexplainable Notebook
The Unexplainable Notebook By Seth Bramwell It all began on an average Saturday for die-hard thrift store hunter Amy Taggart. The crowds weren’t too bad, and she was more than happy to take her time looking through an unruly bin of books for anything of interest. She had just placed a copy of Macbeth in her cart when a small black leather bound notebook atop a pile of romance novels caught her eye. She reached for it with curiosity and opened it to see how much had been used. She found just a few lines of neatly written script that read “The Story of John and Amy. John first met Amy while chatting online one lonely night.” Amy stared at the book, absolutely transfixed. The book was devoid of writing save the title and the one sentence, but the coincidence was too much to ignore; It was exactly the way her husband John had first met her. Amy immediately took a picture of the page with her phone to share online later before adding the book to her cart and leaving quickly. She found John working in the garage when she arrived home. He kissed her cheek and asked her how her trip had gone. Amy smiled mischievously, the mysterious notebook in her hands.

The Homunculus.
The Homunculus. I was so depressed, my business was outdated. Cars used to be covered in lashings of chrome. In the 90’s the plastic arrived. Business became the Hot Rod and Street Machine fans, who used to get engine parts covered in Chrome. However slowly, over time, that market had disappeared. It became more popular to paint engine parts in Candy apple and holographic paints. it didn't help my Chrome shop. I was in debt to my eyeballs.

Socks
In the cold February twilight, the wreck of the robbery had taken on an artistic effect, the starkness of pen and ink, or perhaps the transparent-to-opaque interface of gouache. That was a word Ted had learned from Aunt Theo, whose secret savings now lay scattered about him like the dead butterflies he had once found in the old summer kitchen. Dreams die if they can’t get out into the world, Theo had told him, lifting one bright, weightless corpse and studying it. She had carried it away to her studio, a teenaged Ted trailing behind in sullen boredom, and made it live again on cold-pressed watercolor paper. She had taught him the meaning of gouache but the deeper message she had tried to impart went unheeded. Ted had no dreams.

Who is There Part 3
Well, I of course wake up in my bed, confused. If you remember I was told that Travis has been dead for a while now. Could that be him I feel. Am I just going crazy? Is anyone around me alive? I just lay in bed questioning everything. One of the biggest questions was, how did I get to my bed? I hear footsteps in the hallway heading to my bedroom doorway. I start to get nervous, what if it's that girl again. I lay there paralyzed. My mom comes into the room and I have a big sigh of relief. She looks concerned. She walks up to my bed and sits on the edge "are you ok my dear?" I just smile, trying to calm her cause I know I must have scared the living daylights out of her. I grab her hand "I am fine I think I was just a bit dehydrated”. She accepted what I say and tells me to rest a bit more and when I feel ready to come and eat some supper.

ME
“Samantha honey, you got to get up. You promised we would clean out the attic today and put Tommy’s things up there,” Jason calls out to his wife as he walks into their bedroom. Samantha, laying on the bed in the fetal position, has tears streaming down her face. The thought of cleaning out their son’s room terrifies her while going into the attic terrifies her even more. She hadn’t been up there since she was a child when her grandmother had shown her old family heirlooms claiming she was a part of something special.

14 Minutes
Josh Lam sits in the waiting room and tries, painfully, to catch his breath. His knee bounces. He scrolls through his feed, blind to the headlines and posts. A number in the corner of the phone pulses: Four. Four. Four. Four. When he’d arrived this morning, the nurse at reception had smiled tightly and swiped the number over to his cell. It had been one hundred forty-seven then.

The Bible Salesman
The grin on his face stretched out across vast kingdoms he had imagined in order to veil the Kansas countryside. Dusty, sweltering plains of quiet crops and half dead landowners sitting in their hand-me-down rocking chairs. In his pockets he carried gems and stars, really just beat-up old bibles and rosary beads.
