I learned about Halloween during my first trip to the USA in 1999 around October November. I was amused to see the shops suddenly filling up with pumpkin-type objects and a lot of other scary spooky items. While most were very obviously made to scare; like face masks, dresses, and decoration items but the real terrifying experience was when I stepped onto screaming doormat..........eeeeeiiiiiiii :)) Screaming doormat is so creepy. And all at the shop laughed including me.

It was indeed very intriguing and I was looking forward to the day to witness the celebrations. Let me also share some trivia about this festival so popular in Europe and the USA and now in India too. Halloween is also called All Hallows’ Eve as it is celebrated on the eve of All Saints Day that falls on 1st November.

It is celebrated with great enthusiasm and is next to Christmas in spending and celebrations and so are the sales.

In earlier times it was believed that on this day the souls of the dead return to their homes. People dedicate this day to remembering the dead in family, saints, martyrs, and all the faithful who have departed. At the same time, bonfires were lit and people wore scary costumes to ward off the evil spirits and ghosts. Over the years it has evolved and is more like a secular holiday where people party, wear themed costumes, play pranks, exchange gifts, and great food. Many refrain from eating non-vegetarian food on this day.

And can there be a party without dance and music? So get groovy and shoo away the fears. This time enjoy the festival with some Indian spooky numbers sung in the Hindi language.

Starting with some Vintage thrill.

Love these songs from the black & white era. 🎃

1) I will start with the most popular song from the 1949 blockbuster film “Mahal” meaning "Palace" and the story is about reincarnation. It’s a very melodious superhit song. The music, picturization, and the story behind that give the chilling effect.

2) Another blockbuster 1962 film titled “Bees Saal Baad” meaning “Twenty Years Later”. It’s a psychological thriller. This song won the best lyrics and best singer's awards. Listening to this song at night can give goosebumps.

3) Another very famous song from the 1965 movie “Noor Mahal” meaning "Palace of Divine Light". A very melodious yet eerie one.

4) This one makes the ghosts dance. This song is from a 1965 horror comedy called “Bhoot Bangla” meaning “Ghost Bunglow”. Two brave hearts decided to go in to solve the murder mystery and end up in hilarious encounters with ghosts.

And now some chilling numbers from the 21st century 😱 👻--------->>>>

5) “Kaun” meaning “Who” is one of the best psychological suspense thriller-horror. I am sharing here the background score with its creepy sound effects.

13) My favorite rap number for the perfect Halloween mood. This one is from the film “Intezaar : Koi Aane Ko Hai” meaning “Wait : Someone IS About to Come”

14) And closing my list with a very popular song from a superhit supernatural comedy film “Bhoothnath”.

A Ghost is mocked in GhostWorld as he was not able to scare children on earth so he is sent back to earth to redeem himself. But he again meets strong-headed children who rather befriend him and how they engage him to use his powers is hilarious. Bhoot or Bhooth on Hindi means “Ghost”. Nath is a salutation suffix normally added as a respectful gesture and hence “Bhoothnath” and so is the theme of the movie and this song.
