You might feel the hairs on your neck and arm stand on end when you walk through a dark hallway or if you turn off the lights downstairs and you have to walk up the dark stairway. You skip stairs when the lights are off and in the back of your mind you see images of creatures that aren't human follow you up the steps.

The only way you feel safe is when you quickly escape to your room, close the door, and hide under the blankets. You left a candle in the window, but you still feel uneasy as the wind suddenly starts to howl and a branch screeching against your window. The flame started to flicker, sending eerie shadows to cross your room. Cliche right?

You start feeling a bit more comfortable as sleep suddenly catches up to you. Living alone doesn't seem to both you until you have to run up those dark steps. You close your eyes and start dreaming of shadow figures and creatures that crawl up the wall.

In your dream, the creature on the ceiling turns its head like an owl and stares at you, drool trickling down sharp visible fangs and red eyes that burn down to your soul. You can feel your heart race and you want to scream but nothing comes out. The creature gives a dark deep growl and disappears into a dark corner of the ceiling. You're still on your bed, the covers pulled up close to your racing heart.

Your palms become sweaty as anxiety finally takes over. Where did it go? You can hear movement on the floor and you can picture the creature slithering on the floor under your bed. But the movements are everywhere and so quick you can't pinpoint exactly where they are.

Silence is eerie as the noises and growling suddenly stop. Your eyes dart everywhere, your body paralyzed with fear. The only thing you can hear now is your heart beat and your breathing.

You feel every hair on your arm stand on end as you hear a deep growling once again. You know you're dreaming and try to wake yourself up but fail. Breathing heavy, you manage to turn your head to the left but only to become face to face with fear itself.

Fangs dripping with drool and blood, eyes as red as fire. Body proportioned in an inhuman way. Its long fingers hovering over you and you can feel the sharp claws suddenly go into your body. You open your mouth to scream but nothing comes out.

Your body wakes you up suddenly and there are shadows all around. The creature over your bed, your lower body shakes as it crawls up your torso. This time you manage to scream. The creature and shadows surrounding you seem to get a kick out of it and swirl around the room. You jump out of your bed and turn the ceiling light on and everything grows quiet. Your heart is still beating out of your chest as you pull out your phone to call your closest friend.

“There’s something in my room,” you say frantically. “Can you please come over?”

“Call the cops,” your friend says hanging up.

Staring at your phone in disbelief, you knew you couldn’t call the police over something paranormal. They wouldn’t believe you, just like your friend did. You send your other friend a text message saying, “There is something paranormal in my room and I think it’s trying to kill me. Can you come over and keep me company? Or can I come over to your house?”

A few seconds pass when your friend responds with, “There’s no such thing as paranormal. But if it makes you feel better, I’ll be over in five minutes.”

You sit in your living room anxiously waiting for your friend to arrive. Shadows start passing by you, leaving chills up and down your spine. You can feel the creature slithering around your feet in the darkness under the sofa. You pull your legs up to your chest and close your eyes, wondering where your friend was.

An hour had passed and no one showed up. You can feel the loneliness sinking in deep and the shadows drawing nearer as it seems like the room is getting darker with every passing hour. You then feel the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end as a cold breath brushes you from behind.

A disembodied growl follows this breath and you can feel something grabbing your shoulders with sharp claws. You close your eyes and shake with fear, unable to move.

“We’re going to take everything from you,” a deep evil voice whispers closely in your ear.

A trickle of drool and blood falls on your lap and you whip your head up and look into the very same red eyes you saw in your room. The body of this creature was more noticeable now in the dim lighting that seemed to have been engulfed in darkness as shadows with yellow eyes stood by and watched, laughing.

The creature opened its large mouth and inches closer to you. You could feel your body tense more and you couldn’t move or close your eyes. You let out a loud scream then a dark void followed. The last thing you heard was the cruel laughs and skin crawling growl.
