In 1997, my friends and I went to the movies - with popcorn and colas, we went to watch - Scream, we had no idea what it was about (no Google back then )!

All of us, with the whole of the cinema (SCREAMED)! The movie - Scream, was directed by Wes Craven. The movie is about a teenager, Sidney Prescott, (Neve Campbell), wanted to find  out who killed her mother.

As Sidney's friend  disappeared, Casey Baker (Drew Barrymore) she did not know who  to turn to  or trust.  Sidney had Deputy Dewey Riley, (David Arquette) , a goofy police officer , helping her  stay safe. Billy (Sidney's boyfriend)  (Skt Ulrich) and his associate Stu (Matthew Lillard), were the Ghostface masked killers.

Billy, was angry because Maureen Prescott (  Sidney's mother) had caused his parents to divorce. Sidney got her revenge and survived. This film, was scary, funny, captivating and a trademark of that Ghostface mask, you see now  on Halloween.  And yes, there are  more! Scream 2 and 3, all of them just as scare-jumpy,  suspenseful, and funny.

They also made a gag - movie  in 2000 (Scary Movie), they  take  parts from various horror flicks and turn it into a comedy skit. Check them out, and of course there is more - Scary Movie 2, 3 and 4.

So all fans of the 1996 Scream movie, should  consider watching  Scream (on Netflix). It  has a similar genre, teens trying to survive a past vendetta that haunts them. It has a scarier feel to it, but if you are a true scary buff, like me than you will love it. There only 2 seasons, which left us needing more! But non-the - less it captivates you.

Also, along this genre,  although, it is a  bit more gruesome for some,  another fantastic series, Slasher (on Netflix.) It is a three  part series, The Executioner, solstice, Guilty Party.

My favorite one by far was (The Executioner) - Sarah, also  lost her mother,  she was murdered (while pregnant to her)  many years ago , Sarah moves back to her old house.

She Receives a cryptic message, she begins to investigate the copycat killer, with the help of her estranged father, who is in jail.

(The Guilty Party) - Guilt stricken camp counselors had committed a crime 5 years earlier, they returned to their scene of their crime, only to discover, one by one start to disappear, the remains are missing, someone discovered what they had done and wants revenge.

( Solstice) - On the anniversary of a mysterious slaying, masked killer strikes again, killing eyewitnesses.  At the solstice party, the Druid is stalking all the attendees, cornering them before he kills.

Another favorite with a similar concept as the others, was a series  (on Netflix) called Frequency- Lightening strikes Raimy's father's ham radio, she begins to communicate with a man at the other end, it begins  to get weirder, the man is her father, Frank, 20 years earlier.

They are both, police officers (in the present and the past) they are both trying to catch a serial killer known as "The Nightingale" he target's nurses.

Raimy also figures out that her father's death was a setup. She prevents his death in the present, but it has a     ' butterfly effect' that changes reality.

As her  father survives, she discovers her mother had been killed by The Nightingale in the 90s.  All these series are very well executed, to keep the viewer coming back for more, I get  disappointed when the seasons ends,  you lose yourself with the characters and you cannot stop on  getting hooked.!
