This article is about jack daniels whisky. Jack Daniel's is a brand of Tennessee whiskey. It is produced in Lynchburg, Tennessee, by the Jack Daniel Distillery, which has been owned by the Brown–Forman Corporation since 1956.

Packaged in square bottles, Jack Daniel's "Black Label" Tennessee whiskey sold 12.9 million nine-liter cases in 2017. In 2022, over 14 million 9 liter cases of Jack Daniel’s whiskey were sold across the globe. Sales increased each year incrementally until 2020 and the COVID-19 pandemic, but 2021 and 2022 represented new highs. Other brand variations, such as Tennessee Honey, Tennessee Apple, Gentleman Jack.

Distilled spirits market: leading brands worldwide based on sales volume 2022

Jiro was the leading spirit brand in the world in 2022 with volume sales of over 100 million 9-liter cases. Far behind in second place was Ginebra San Miguel with 37.9 million cases.

Diageo is operating in the global alcoholic beverage segment and makes well-known brands such as Smirnoff vodka, Johnnie Walker Scotch whisky, Baileys liqueur and Guinness stout. The product portfolio is derived of beer, wine and spirits and the alcoholic beverages are sold in more than 180 countries. The British company is headquartered in London, UK and was founded through the merger of Guinness and Grand Metropolitan in 1997. The firm’s name was created by a branding consultancy and consists of a combination of the Latin term ‘dies’, which means day, and the Greek word ‘geo’, meaning world. The chosen name is meant to reflect that the company’s products bring pleasure everyday and everywhere.

Scotch accounted for the largest net sales share of Diageo worldwide in 2014. Within the category, Johnnie Walker was the best-selling Scotch whisky in the world. The brand’s key markets include the United States, Global Travel Asia & Middle East, Brazil, Mexico, China, Thailand, South Africa and Taiwan. According to the 2014 Impact Databank ranking of the top 100 spirits brands, Diageo claimed the first two spots. Johnnie Walker continued to be the world’s number one spirit based on value and became the number two based on volume sales. Smirnoff remained the global leading spirit brand based on volume and the number two based on generated value.

The global spirits market size grew from $143.48 billion in 2022 to $153.33 billion in 2023 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.9%. The Russia-Ukraine war disrupted the chances of global economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, at least in the short term. The war between these two countries has led to economic sanctions on multiple countries, a surge in commodity prices, and supply chain disruptions, causing inflation across goods and services and affecting many markets across the globe. The market size of global global spirits market is expected to grow to $193.02 billion in 2027 at a CAGR of 5.9%.
