In books, films, and legends, we often come across stories of people who can read minds, influence thoughts, or control human behavior. Most call it magic, illusion, or myth. But there was one man whose abilities left the world divided—some called him a genius, others called him a mystery.

His name was Wolf Messing.

Even some of the greatest personalities of his time, including Mahatma Gandhi, Albert Einstein, and other world thinkers, were said to be fascinated by him. His reputation was so powerful that even governments took notice. Yet, his true abilities remain one of the most debated mysteries in history.

A Troubled Beginning

Wolf Messing was born in 1899 in a poor Jewish family in a region that was then under Russian control. His family wanted him to become a religious scholar, but he had little interest in studies or religious teachings. Life at home was difficult, and at a very young age, he ran away from home.

At around 16 or 17 years old, he boarded a train to Berlin with no money, no ticket, and no clear future.

The First Strange Incident

While traveling secretly on the train, a ticket inspector began checking passengers. Messing, terrified, had no ticket and hid under a seat.

In panic, he picked up a random piece of paper lying nearby and handed it over while silently wishing it to be accepted as a valid ticket.

What happened next shocked him.

The inspector looked at the paper seriously, accepted it as a valid ticket, and moved on.

At that moment, Messing believed something unusual existed within him—a strange mental influence over people’s perception.

Rise of a Performer

After reaching Berlin, he struggled for survival and started doing small jobs. Gradually, he began performing in circuses and public shows, where he demonstrated abilities like predicting actions and influencing decisions.

People started calling him a psychic, a mentalist, and even a magician.

His fame grew rapidly across Europe.

Stalin’s Dangerous Tests

Eventually, his reputation reached Joseph Stalin, the leader of the Soviet Union. Stalin was skeptical but curious. He decided to test Messing’s abilities.

First Test

Stalin ordered him to withdraw 1 lakh rubles from a bank without any documents or account.

Messing walked into the bank, handed a blank piece of paper to the clerk, and after carefully examining it, the clerk surprisingly handed him the money.

When the same paper was later checked again, it appeared completely blank.

Stalin was shocked.

Second Test

Messing was locked in a heavily guarded room and ordered to escape.

Despite strict security, he reportedly walked out within minutes, leaving everyone stunned.

Third Test

Stalin gave an even more dangerous challenge—Messing was told to enter Stalin’s private room at midnight without being stopped.

Even though no one knew which room Stalin would sleep in that night, Messing allegedly walked straight into the correct room and stood before him.

Stalin was shocked once again.

The Mystery Deepens

From that moment, Messing became both respected and feared. Some believed he could influence human minds. Others said it was all psychological manipulation and suggestion.

Even during World War II, stories circulated that his predictions about Germany and Hitler had attracted attention from intelligence agencies.

Later Life and Death

Wolf Messing continued performing in the Soviet Union, gaining fame as a mysterious mentalist. He lived a quiet final life and passed away at the age of 75.

Even after his death, his documents and records reportedly remain preserved in Russian archives, studied by researchers and historians.

Legacy of Mystery

To this day, Wolf Messing remains an unsolved mystery.

Was he truly able to control human minds?

Or was he an expert in psychology, suggestion, and observation?

The world still debates.

But one thing is certain—his story continues to fascinate millions, blurring the line between science and the supernatural.
