Will Diane's ring and the mask Phyllis was wearing be evidence of premeditated murder on The Young and the Restless?

Something fishy is going on in Genoa City and someone needs to figure it out

What is Diane and Jeremy's ultimate plan?

The emphasis from the cameras on The Young and the Restless has been on the mask that Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) was wearing during the bicentennial gala and the engagement ring Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) gave Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) but why? Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) tried to steal the ring from the Abbott home but put it back. Jeremy Stark (James Hyde) lifted it from Jack's pocket during the celebration but it was in Phyllis's hand when she passed out.

The dastardly duo could not have anticipated Diane removing the ring from Phyllis's hand and putting it on her finger so what was the purpose of stealing it? A paramedic saw the deed and it probably and will no doubt come back to haunt Diane at a later date but how? Here are the facts regarding Jeremy and Phyllis as we know them at this point.

The duo is married ad the ambulance carrying Phyllis to the hospital crashed on Friday. Did Jeremey give his new bride some type of drug to slow down her heart rate and make her pass out and did he pay ambulance drivers to crash on purpose? Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) dialed 911 so it would appear the paramedics who arrived were legit but something about the crash just does not feel right.

There is something bigger going on that fans don't see right now

Some fans of The Young and the Restless believe the couple got married so they would not have to testify against one another but there may be more going on. If indeed Phyllis is pronounced dead as spoilers have teased then as her husband Jeremy would have control over her body and he would not have to allow her family to see her. Stark could pretend he cremated his new wife's ashes and not allow her children or family to see to validate that she is indeed gone.

They also would not be able to give her a burial which should raise eyebrows and would mean Phyllis would have to go into hiding. Nothing has been said about Stafford leaving The Young and the Restless so if Phyllis fakes her murder she would have to leave Genoa City and her loved ones behind. According to Destractify Stafford has confirmed that she plans to leave Y&R temporarily so what exactly will be the end game for Phyllis and Jeremy?

How long before Phyllis and Jeremy are caught?

If Phyllis pretends to be dead and Diane is charged with her murder it will all unravel once she returns to Genoa City. There is also the question of what Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) is going to find when he examines the mask Phyllis was wearing. He is already suspicious of Jack and Diane because he knows they set Jeremy up with the stolen necklace that belonged to Nikki Newman ( Melody Thomas Scott).

If Diane is accused of murder this will cause a rift between Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) who will believe his mom is innocent and Summer Abbott (Allison Lanier) who will blame Diane for her mother's death. Summer and Daniel Romalatti (Michael Graziadei) will feel guilty because of the way they have treated Phyllis recently.

At some point Jeremy and Phyllis could turn on one another which will create more drama. Who will be the first to figure out what is really going on in Genoa City and how long will it take. Be on the lookout for spoiler alerts and updates to this bizarre storyline on The Young and the Restless as they become available.
