What is next for the Scarlet Witch?

What will happen to the characters of Wandavision?

Wanda Maximoff has had a long and traumatic journey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe culminating in her finally becoming the true Scarlet Witch in the final episode of Wandavision. A journey that has included her mother and father being killed, being experimented on by Hydra scientists, her brother dying and her husband dying in front of her more than once.

The question on many Marvel fans lips now is, what is next for Wanda? Where is her journey heading and what can we expect to see in future Marvel TV shows and movies. In this article, I am going to talk about what I think is going to happen to the loose ends that Wandavision left behind and the future of the Scarlet Witch.

Agatha Harkness

At the end of Wandavision, we see Agatha being turned back into the nosey neighbour of Westview. Personally, I don't think that this is the last time we will see Agatha. She is obviously now deeply connected to Wanda as she was able to sense Wanda's chaos magic. She is also a very powerful witch that has studied witchcraft and the Darkhold for hundreds of years and can more than likely escape whatever spell Wanda put her in. Not to mention Marvel usually gives most characters a fleshed out ending meaning Agatha's story is not over yet.

There are many ways to bring Agatha back into the MCU. She has already name-dropped the sorcerer supreme meaning she has a lot of knowledge of witches and wizards. I don't think it would be too farfetched to see her turn up in Doctor Strange 2, maybe as an ally to Strange. In the comics, she has also mentored the Scarlet Witch and babysat for the Fantastic 4 so I wouldn't be surprised to see her in the upcoming Fantastic 4 movie. She is certainly not a character to just appear in 1 TV show.

The Vision

The last time we see White vision and Wanda together, he was trying to crush her head. Now, we have no idea if Wanda knows that white Vision escaped the hex or that he has been reprogrammed by hex Vision. Now that he has had all his memories of the infinity saga unlocked we can assume that we will be seeing him again in a future movie. He won't be in Doctor Strange 2 though because that movie will be in danger of becoming overcrowded with characters.

Wanda and Vision will definitely cross paths again, but I don't know how that will go down. Wanda will still be in love with Vision and will probably still think that this version is out to kill her. Moving forward I think this version of Vision is going to be the same as Age of Ultron Vision, the peacemaker and only doing what is right. I think we could also see him distanced from Wanda and becoming the leader of a new Avengers team in the future.

Billy and Tommy

When the twins were introduced in Wandavision I was so hyped for them to properly be a part of the MCU. I was disappointed in the finale when it seemed like they were going to be forgotten about. However, in the post-credit scene of Wanda, you can hear Billy and Tommy shouting, this makes me believe that they will be returning. I think that Wanda is now going to use the Darkhold to resurrect her children, possibly leading to the events of Doctor Strange 2.

I think that Marvel is heading towards a Young Avengers movie and I think that Billy and Tommy as Wiccan and Speed will be members. They already have 3 of the members coming to the MCU in Wiccan, Speed and Kate Bishop who is going to take up the mantle of Hawkeye in the upcoming Hawkeye show. I also still think that Mephisto has something to do with the twins and them being resurrected could introduce Mephisto into the MCU.

Mutants

So far in the MCU, the only mutants we know about are Wanda and Pietro. Although they have never been called that, I think that Wanda is the perfect way to introduce the mutants. We know that the X-Men are going to be introduced to the MCU at some point and there has to be a logical explanation to where they have been for the past 10 years.

Personally, I think there are 2 ways they can explain this. The first way is, the people who were dusted when Thanos snapped could come back with some mutant powers as we saw that Monica has powers now and she was one of the people who were dusted, this would be a good way to explain why all of a sudden mutants exist.

However, my second theory is my favourite and has to do with Wanda. We see that Monica's powers awaken when she comes into contact with Wanda's hex. In the comic series House of M, Wanda says "No more mutants", then uses her hex powers to depower all mutant beings. I think that Marvel could switch this in Doctor Strange 2 having Wanda say something like "Let there be Mutants", then using her hex powers to awaken the mutant abilities in people. This would explain why they are just now showing up and would make Wanda the creator of all mutants.

Doctor Strange 2

We already know that Elizabeth Olsen is going to be reprising her role as Wanda Maximoff in the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel. We also know that the movie will deal with the multiverse. We see at the end of Wandavision that Wanda is reading through and learning from the Darkhold which is known as the Book of the Dammed. Doctor Strange is not going to be okay with that and that makes me think that The Scarlet Witch is going to fully become the villain of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

I think that Strange could find Wanda jumping between Universes either searching for her sons or her brother and trying to bring them into the current universe or even teaming up and learning from Mordo or Mephisto. I think the Darkhold is going to twist Wanda's mind leaving Strange to try and turn her back and take her away from whatever villain is using her.
