Martin Scorsese Slams Streaming Platforms

Director Martin Scorsese slammed streaming platforms in as essay for Harper’s Magazine. Scorsese said in part, “the art of cinema is being systematically devalued, sidelined, demeaned, and reduced to its lowest common denominator, 'content".

He talked about how streaming platforms were only concerned about the content that would bring money, treating “the viewer as a consumer and nothing else”.

Scorsese’s recent movies have been funded by streaming platforms as he seems to have struggled to get his movies financed by ‘traditional’ studios. His latest offering The Irishman was financed by Netflix after being dropped by Paramount Studios. The next one Killers of the Flower Moon will be financed by Apple TV+.

Demi Lovato to Release Documentary, Reveals Struggles with After Effects of 2018 Overdose

Demi Lovato premiered the trailer for her YouTube docuseries Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil which is set to premiere on March 23rd in four parts.

In the trailer for the docuseries she seems to be laying it all out there as it relates to her 2018 overdose. The overdose was said to have made her have three strokes and a heart attack upon hospitalisation. The trailer also features interviews with her family members, close friends, and even Elton John.

This is Lovato’s third documentary on her mental health.

Following the release of the trailer, Lovato was on a panel for the docuseries hosted by the Television Critics Association, Lovato said she "was left with brain damage" following the 2018 overdose, and she still suffers the effects currently.

She said, "I don't drive a car, because I have blind spots in my vision… I also for a long time had a really hard time reading. It was a big deal when I was able to read out of a book, which was like two months later because my vision was so blurry.

"I dealt with a lot of the repercussions and I feel like they are still there to remind me of what could happen if I ever get into a dark place again," she added. "I'm grateful for those reminders."

Again, Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil premieres March 23rd.
