WandaVision...Only Two Episodes Left!

It Was Agatha All Along

It's that time again to say those magic words, and for this installment that's the best phrasing, I could use. Spoiler Alert!

We pick right up, during the early morning hours of the following day in Wanda's life. Last we saw, Wanda had stretched her powers to the maximum and stretched the Hex outwards, protecting Vision from what was happening to him as he tried unsuccessfully to get to the outside world. She even blasted her not-so-brother, Pietro, in the process. So, a day later, Wanda is ready for a quiet day at home or Staycation. The first easter egg of the episode shows up when Wanda's making cereal and we see a slightly blurred image of little Billy on an old-fashioned missing poster printed on a milk carton.

Seeing Elizabeth Olsen running around the Maximoff residence in sweats, a tee-shirt, and a plaid robe just reminds us all that the Hollywood hottie probably spends some down-to-earth time in real life. For all the glitz and glamor photos we see of her, this feels all too comfortable for the actress and really comes across the screen that way. So, serial in hand, she is mulling around the house as the boys bring up the night before. Wanda "Scarlett Witch" Maximoff comes off so motherly in this scene.

This is the scene that treats us to our first revelation of episode seven. Remember last week when "uncle Pietro," said it's not like your dead husband can die twice, well that had to come up in the boys' minds, right! Not that Vision has been dad of the year but how could two kids hear that and not question things.

"That man is not your uncle."

Wanda's recognizing the problems with this world she created came out in full force when Pietro commented on Vision being dead. She sure let him have it in the last episode and then telling the kids he's not their real uncle cemented the fact that the X-Men Quicksilver is not the MCU Quicksilver. So what does this mean for the character? Most likely, we won't be getting Quicksilver back, at least not during WandaVision. While most fans, myself included, thought the character of Quicksilver being there and his instant chemistry with Avengers mainstay, Hawkeye, could have been built on, at this time it doesn't look like its' meant to be but the writers can always change their mind. As the boys sit, listening to mom explain things, their eyes getting ever more concerned by Wanda's revelations, I'll give the two child actors credit for their facial work.

For those still stuck in the Hex and those trying to get into the Hex, things are getting more confusing. Wanda's magical world is in the center of two stories. One, the Hex, which is now inundated with a circus effect from last week's expansion. Vision survived, but is still none the wiser as to the intricacies of what is happening and wakes up during this new day, stumbling around a literal circus, which is all that remains of the ground camp set up by the agency SWORD. He does manage to find someone to align himself with but she'll take a little bit of waking up before she realizes who she really is and that she's Dr. Darcy, not the incredible escape artist at the local circus.

Like they're two actors in a buddy cop show, Darcy and Vision are thrust together in the Hex. So our embattled hero's escape the circus in a stolen ice cream truck, to find their way back to Visions' home. Vision, still unaware of his true fate, seems to only know two things. One, that he wants his kids to be safe. and two, that he needs to get to Wanda. Unfortunately, for Vision, he won't find her during this episode but we'll get to that shortly.

Monica Rambeau has been laboring to get back inside and tell Wanda the truth about Hayward. She knows this is all about Vision. The intrepid FBI Agent and Monica learned that Darcy made it through the last firewalls and that Hayward had Visions body, trying to bring him back online. Hayward wanted the sentient weapon back. When Monica forces her way into the Hex, we get a sign that she's got powers. They'll probably be from the exposure to the radiation during her trips into the Hex, or that would be a simple enough explanation. What might a SWORD agent have been exposed to, however, is a question that we might want to ask. Looking back at the MCU, if she's been working with Nick Fury, she's spent time off-world. Any number of stories about the now grown-up surrogate niece of Captain Marvel may turn out to be the right one. We'll have to wait and see.

What happens when you show your face to a mistrusting witch that doesn't want her perfect little world turned upside down. Monica finds out she's not welcome there in Westview, especially not by Wanda. Telling Wanda about Vision and what Hayward was going to do proves to be a tougher task than our newest hero imaged.

From feeling the wrath of Wanda to sticking the full superhero landing and her eyes changing to the really pretty color of blue, there are all sorts of hints at the future of Monica in the MCU to get excited about. As this series leads into the Multiverse of Madness story in Dr. Strange Two, hopefully, we'll learn more about the plans for the character.

"Wanda, Wanda, you didn't think you were the only magical girl in town did you?"

Introducing Agatha Harkness and finally confirming the suspicion that the hundreds of years old witch is the villain in the story makes this the most exciting episode yet. The revelation comes late so it doesn't give much of an indicator as to what her intentions are or if she's working alone. Agatha's presence and the history of her character lead to many interesting possibilities, however. She's historically helped the Avengers, worked with the Fantastic Four. and put down the Magic Seven, all the while trying to maintain control of New Salem Colorado, a town filled with witches. She's also the witch that teaches Wanda about real magic.

With only two episodes left in the series, there's still a lot to uncover. What, if anything, will be the fate of Vision? Which direction is Wanda's future headed, hero or villain, and what of the twins? Where is Monica's future taking her and what do her newfound powers truly mean for her future in the MCU? What of FBI Agent Jimmy? Will he be a mainstay now, perhaps teaming up with Darcy in a very Bones-like way, or is he eventually to head back to California for Ant-Man 3? Hopefully, the writers don't leave us with too many questions left open between this installment into the MCU and Doctor Strange Two but since we can't depend on the theatres to remain open, it could happen.

If you're getting ready to watch Wandavision's seventh episode, stay tuned to the credits. The MCU is back to its' old tricks and throwing in end credit scenes. This one involves Monica and the basement. Just when she finds the basement, the mock Pietro shows up. It's not much but it was kind of a fun ad on at the end and now we need to know more. If he's not Pietro, who is the character, where is he from and what's his place in the story?
