Uncork'd Entertainment are no strangers to the schlock business. The company has been making a 'unique' brand of low budget horror for a few years now. Each year they are able to scrape the bottoms of many barrels to locate some of the most poignantly low budget films in existence. They then title and package the film for home entertainment and movies like Jurassic Triangle are born.

These aren't parody movies. They are horror movies with the intention of being scary and entertaining. They would probably work better as comedies but Uncork'd prefers making movies that you can laugh at, not with. Thus, we proceed with a look at the trailer and... wow, those special effects sure are special.

Jurassic Triangle is the first feature film in the career of director Victor De Almeida, following a career in short films that dates back to 2016. De Almeida is working from a script by Harry Boxley who earned some infamy for his exploitation film screenplays based on classic nursery rhymes. Boxley is the infamous screenwriter for Cinderella's Curse and Mary Had a Little Lamb, both of which were released in 2023 to little acclaim.

Jurassic Triangle is the story of a doomed corporate retreat. A pair are scouting locations for said retreat when their helicopter crosses a mysterious 'Triangle' and is transported to another dimension where it crashes on a deserted island. On this island are not only dinosaurs but creatures that have evolved into even more terrifying potential killers, headless beasties with a taste for blood.

It's pure schlock as you can see in the trailer, linked above. That said, for as low budget as Jurassic Triangle clearly is, sometimes movies like this have a particular charm to them. Last year, I watched an awful movie called Firenado, review linked here, and while it was poorly acted and the special effects were of a childlike quality, in that a child who'd not worked with special effects before made these special effects, it was still fun to watch and poke fun at.

Whether or not Jurassic Triangle will be that kind of fun will rely heavily on the cast. If you recognize any of the actors in Jurassic Triangle, you are probably a relative. The names of these stars don't exactly leap off of the IMDB page. But there are a few with notable resumes that we can highlight here to get you intrigued about Jurassic Triangle.

Chrissie Wunna

Leading the cast is Chrissie Wunna whose IMDB page is a true wonder. Chrissie is beloved among the crowd that loves knock offs like Jurassic Triangle. Her resume includes 7 feature films she made last year, down from 11 features she stared in 2022. I'm not kidding. She also has a thing for dinosaur movies.

In just the last three years, Chrissie has starred in Dinosaur Hotel 1 and Dinosaur Hotel 2. She also appeared in Pterodactyl and Kingdom of the Dinosaurs. If that isn't a notable enough resume, Chrissie picked up roles in such remarkable knockoffs as Freddy's Fridays, Amityville Scarecrow 2, Conjuring The Plastic Surgeon, and The Leprechaun's Curse- not an official sequel to The Leprechaun.

Joining Chrissie Wunna at the front of this cast is a young actor, new to the Uncork'd knock off pipeline. Newcomer Connor Powles has apparently spent the past year making nine movies, none of which have been released yet, though they should be arriving soon. Notably, he plays Bro Dude in the upcoming sequel Winnie the Pooh Blood and Honey 2.

Meanwhile, other notable items on Connor's upcoming slate include:

Spiders on a Plane

Dinosaur Hotel 3 (I would watch the first two before seeing this one)

Vampire Files

Mega-Twister

The Bad Nun 3 (No relation to the Conjuring universe The Nun)

And several more movies of questionable ethics and taste. Nevertheless, with 9 movies coming out over the next 12 months, it's certainly a busy time in the career of Connor Powles. He stays busy, good for him. I probably won't see most of these movies but I can tell you now, I am looking forward to watching and writing about Jurassic Triangle when it hits on-demand viewing on February 13th.
