Spider-Man has been a staple in every media since his creation in the 1960s. Since then Peter Parker has appeared in comic books, movies, tv shows, games, novels and the list goes on. Naturally, along the way in his 60 year journey, he has came across many new people, some friend, some foe and some with a striking resemblance to himself. So here we have a top 5 list of my favourite Spider-People that our Peter Parker has crossed paths with over his many years.

5. Spider-Man 2099

Spider-Man 2099 is a man called Miguel O'Hara. Miguel is an Irish-Mexican geneticist living in the year 2099 in Nueva York (New York in 2099). Miguel sets his life to recreating the abilities of the original Peter Parker Spider-Man in other people. As things usually do in comics it goes horribly wrong and Miguel suffers an accident in his lab relating to one of these experiments and he re-writes half his DNA with a spiders genetic code, giving him spider like abilities and becoming Spider-Man in the year 2099.

Overall, Miguel has a very cool suit, a lot different to the usual Spider-Man attire. Rather than the usual red and blue, Miguel adopts a blueish black suit with red spider skull on his chest, the suit has ripped web gliders under the arms and claws on the end of the fingers. He has been around since 1992 previewing in The Amazing Spider-Man #365 and since then has become quite a fan favourite spanning across games, movies and has had many of his own comic series.

4. Spider-Gwen (Ghost Spider)

Spider-Gwen, or sometimes known as Ghost Spider, is an alternate version of the Gwen Stacey we all know from our universe. In this alternate earth it is Gwen who is bitten by the radioactive spider, replacing Peter as the Spider-Woman of that universe. In turn, it is the Peter Parker of that universe who becomes the Lizard and ends up being defeated and killed during a fight with Gwen. In this universe this event is used as her Uncle Ben moment of acknowledging her responsibility with her new found powers.

Gwen Stacey's Spider-Woman suit is one of the coolest in my opinion, it strays the most from the norm, having the mix of white, black and purple colour scheme and the hood that comes over the top of her mask, she has also been seen to have on blue ballet shoes in the movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Since her creation in 2014 in the Edge of Spider-Verse comic run she has very quickly shot to fame and became a hit in the Spider-Man fan base appearing in many comics, tv shows and movies.

3. Spider-Woman

Spider-Woman is a person called Jessica Drew. She was given her powers in a very barbaric way of tampering with her genetic code when she was just a child. She later went on to have an eventful life, becoming a HYDRA spy and then eventually realising her true calling, taking up the spandex crime fighting and becoming Spider-Woman.

She has one of the coolest suits in the vast Spider-Verse, it has a deep red base with some bright yellow accents on the torso, chest, gloves and mask. This suit also has some built in under arm web gliders as well. Spider-Woman first appeared in Marvel Spotlight #32 in 1977 and since then has not shot to fame as much as other Spider-People. However her cool suit and amazing back story put her above most in my ranking.

2. Scarlet Spider

Ben Reilly or The Scarlett Spider is a clone of Peter Parker, originally grown by Miles Warren who is Spidey villain The Jackal, as a way of defeating Peter Parkers Spider-Man. Over the years since his birth Ben has been a foe of Peters and then becomes his ally. Ben eventually takes up his own superhero persona and fights crime as The Scarlet Spider.

Ben is such an interesting character as he is a complete copy of the Peter Parker we all know which makes him an amazing Spider-Man, but he also has his own amazing storylines and over the years becomes a lot more of his own character, he also becomes the solo Spider-Man of New York whenever peter has some other business to attend to. He has some amazing suits as well, his original suit which is my favourite, has a red base and mask with a blue hoodie thrown over the top with a black spider painted on it.

1. Miles Morales

Miles Morales was created in 2011 in a series called Ultimate Fallout, in this universe, Peter Parker dies and Miles get bitten by a different radioactive spider to the one that bit Peter. While the residents of this universe mourn the loss of Peter, Miles becomes his own version of Spider-Man. Miles has some very cool powers to accompany the usual powers of a Spider-Person. These include a electric shock attack that send a jolt of electricity out of his body to attack foes, he also has a camouflage which makes him completely invisible for a short time.

Due to miles becoming such a fan favourite so quickly thanks to his well written stories and interesting side characters, Marvel had no choice but to merge him into the main 616 comic universe. Miles Morales' Spider-Man suit stays true to the classic suit with the same webbing along the suit but changes the colour scheme to a cool red and black with the same white eyes. Miles has appeared in every conceivable media since his creation and he is here to stay for the long run!
