Hello, movie lovers! It is 2020, and we are officially in a new decade. With a new decade comes even more movies and this year, we're going to get some great films, and I wanted to give you the ten films I'm most excited to watch in 2020.

Without further ado, let's get started.

10. Free Guy

Unless you remember Green Lantern, you'd know that Ryan Reynolds never disappoints. In this upcoming action-comedy, he portrays a non-player character who becomes aware that his world is a video game and decides to make himself the hero.

This film appears to have impressive visual effects, and with supporting cast members such as Taika Waititi and Lil Rel Howery, this film is sure to be an absolute blast from "ready-set-go" to "game over."

9. Top Gun: Maverick

Back in 1986, Tom Cruise's action drama, Top Gun, hit theaters and gave everyone a need for speed with its aerial stunts, shirtless volleyball, and super-cool characters.

In June, we get our long-awaited sequel with Cruise flying back into his role as Maverick in a star-studded film that will be promising more exciting flying scenes, more romance, and more effortless entertainment.

8. Fast & Furious 9

In a world where we obey the laws of physics, one film series gives these laws the finger with its nonsensical, logic-defying action sequences that provide audiences with non-stop adrenaline.

The next installment in this franchise races to theaters in May and will see the return of Vin Diesel and Charlize Theron while also throwing John Cena and Cardi B into the mix. With a cast like this, we should be gearing up for one hell of a ride.

7. Soul

Pixar movies have a reputation for making grown men cry, and with this upcoming film about a musician whose soul is separated from his body in an accident, we should be expecting a story that will be funny and heartwarming.

Starring Jamie Foxx and Tina Fey, this film comes to us from the director of Up and Monsters, Inc., so when this movie hits theaters, it will be time to grab our tissue boxes and prepare ourselves for the emotional ride of the year.

6. Birds of Prey

Remember when Suicide Squad came out, and everyone hated everything about it besides Margot Robbie's performance as Harley Quinn? Well, it seems like Hollywood agreed because the next installment in the DC Extended Universe contains 100% Margot Robbie and 0% Jared Leto.

This R-rated superhero flick will feature Harley Quinn teaming up with a new group of heroes to take down Black Mask, a crime lord portrayed by Ewan McGregor, and this looks way better than Suicide Squad.

5. Onward

In 2020, Pixar will be coming out with not just one, but two new animated stories. They'll be releasing Onward in March, which will star Chris Pratt and Tom Holland as two brothers who go a magical adventure to bring their dad back to life for one day in a world filled with mystical creatures.

Judging from the trailers, this looks like a hilarious family adventure that will pull at a few of our heartstrings.

4. Wonder Woman 1984

The original Wonder Woman is one of my all-time favorite superhero films, and in this upcoming sequel, we'll see Gal Gadot return to her famous role as this badass Amazonian princess.

Chris Pine also returns in this sequel that will blast the series years into the future from 1918 to 1984 as she fights new foes, and honestly, this movie sold me on that one slow-motion shot in the trailer where she strikes a bullet in mid-air. Too epic.

3. Black Widow

After many years, Marvel is finally giving Scarlett Johansson her standalone film in her iconic role as Black Widow. This film will be taking place during the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, and it looks pretty awesome.

Florence Pugh and David Harbour round out the supporting cast, and given Black Widow's reputation, this film should contain with some of the best hand-to-hand combat sequences of the MCU.

2. A Quiet Place: Part II

Back in 2018, Jim Halper–I mean, John Krasinski released a horror film called A Quiet Place, which later became one of my favorite movies of the year. It managed to be a tense, exquisitely acted horror with some fantastic sequences.

And we're getting a sequel with Cillian Murphy joining the cast and with the new trailer released today, this movie looks like it will be delving more into how everything began. It also doesn't appear to be as contained as the original, and I think this sequel will be even bigger and louder.

1. Tenet

My favorite filmmaker of all time, the undeniable genius known as Christopher Nolan, is coming out with a new film shrouded in mystery. All we know from this trailer is the fact that it deals with time travel and nuclear war.

John David Washington and Robert Pattinson will be headlining this science fiction actioner. Given Nolan's past work with films such as Memento and Inception, a time travel movie seems to be right down his alley. This film has one of the most intriguing trailers I've ever seen, and it's the movie I'm the readiest to love.

And that's it! Happy New Year, everybody.
