Tom Hiddleston, as Loki, just won The Male TV Star Award of 2021 at the People's Choice Awards. Tom Hiddleston commented on his role as Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as a delight and an honor. He also commented about how long he would continue to play Loki in the MCU. Tom Hiddleston stated that eventually, there will come a time when Loki will not be a part of the MCU. He also said that he won't be able to experience a perfect exit from playing Loki due to the endless resurrections. Tom Hiddleston's comments indicate that his future as Loki is unclear. Does anyone really think Loki will just leave without some sort of trick up his sleeve? You've got to be joking.

The MCU fanbase is used to this lack of clarity. Are the MCU writers and directors prepping for a huge role for Tom Hiddleston and Loki? Loki has faked his death at least four times already in the MCU. Loki, God of Mischief, has really set free the MCU Multiverse. Loki the series really grasped time travel based on their experiences with the TVA (Time Variance Authority) and the Sacred Timeline. However, if you consider what Marvel executive Kevin Feige has already commented on as being in the works, it looks as though Hiddleston and Loki will be around for quite some time. Disney and Marvel want to keep Loki around for several years to come. Season 2 of Loki on Disney+ is in the works, and it looks like Loki is set to appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

The one thing surprising about Tom Hiddleston's skepticism is that Loki did well on Disney+. The TV show was a shining light for the MCU. Loki was good because it provided the fanbase with the story of what happened to Loki after Avengers: Endgame. Loki also provides the fanbase with more stories on the Sacred Timeline. The story of Loki helps set the stage for future movies that continue the story of the Sacred Timeline in the multiverse. Therefore, films like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Spider-Man: No Way Home can fall into place and expand on the Sacred Timeline. Just as the timeline can open up the multiverse, these films can also open more creative endeavors in many more MCU films.

The question from all this might be that Tom Hiddleston hinted that a different actor could play Loki in the MCU. After all, he commented that he is only a "temporary torchbearer." That would mean that the character Loki would remain and continue in his quest to prevent timeline mishaps. There is also the possibility that Sophia Di Martino will return and possibly take over as the new Loki in future character iterations. Loki is also tasked with tracking any variants he is alerted to and stopping them through disintegration. Hence, the Sacred Timeline is very important to the MCU. It is interesting to see what other shenanigans the Avengers have created with the Sacred Timeline.

The future movies are set to relate to each other in this Sacred Timeline in the multiverse. It will be interesting to see what Kevin Feige, his writers, and directors have in store for the fan base. Time Variants, Multiverse, Sacred Timeline… What are the possibilities? MCU has created a whole new world full of action, drama, excitement, and high expectations. The fanbase should not be disappointed as many creative stories are in the works. This multiverse might even lead into the Fantastic Four timeline. The 1602 universe may be the next stop in the Sacred Timeline.
