I’ve got some exciting news for all you Spider-Man fans, specifically for Toby Maguire fans.

Actor Tobey Maguire recently expressed his interest in returning to play the iconic role of Spider-Man in a future project.

In an interview on Marvel’s website, Maguire was asked about his thoughts on being approached to come back as Spider-Man in the 2021 film Spider-Man: No Way Home, and he shared that he would be excited to reprise the role. He stated:

“I love these films and I love all of the different series. If these guys called me and said, ‘Would you show up tonight to hang out and goof around?’ or ‘Would you show up to do this movie or read a scene or do a Spider-Man thing?,’ it would be a ‘Yes!’ Because why wouldn’t I want to do that?”

Maguire also acknowledged that he had some initial nerves when Marvel reached out to him about the opportunity to come back and play Spider-Man alongside Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield, the other actors who have portrayed the character in recent years. He said:

“‘What will this look like and what will the experience be?’”

“But to get to show up with beautiful, talented, creative people and play together? It’s just like, ‘Yes!’ It’s fun and exciting.”

The actor also shared that it didn’t take long for him to feel comfortable in the Spider-Man suit again, even after so many years. He said:

“it didn’t take long for me to “feel pretty at home” wearing the outfit.”

Spider-Man: No Way Home featured a multiverse storyline that allowed Maguire and Garfield to reprise their Spider-Man characters alongside the current Spider-Man, played by Holland. The movie even featured a scene referencing the Spider-Man pointing meme.

However, it remains to be seen if Maguire will get the opportunity to play Spider-Man again in the future.

Currently, no future Spider-Man movies have been announced, and Tom Holland, the current Spider-Man, has stated that he wants to take a break from acting to focus on his family and also wants to see a woman play the character. Holland said:

“We’ve had three Spider-Mans in a row; we’ve all been the same. It’d be nice to see something different.”
