Billy wants fresh start with Amanda

The Young and the Restless has been dancing around Bamabda for months and fans are becoming restless. First Amanda was a listening ear, for Billy Boy, then he was her night in shining armor. Both feel guilty about what Ripley did to Victoria but neither seems to know what’s next when it comes to their feelings for one another. When Mishael Morgan first returned to Genoa City as Hilary’s look alike it was believed she would once again be paired with Devon. As Devon and Elena grew stronger as a couple it seemed that Ms. Sinclair and Nate might get together, once he broke up with Abby. In the midst of it all a friendship developed between Amanda and Billy but some viewers say there is no chemistry.

A number of those who watch the CBS daytime drama are angry at seeing so much of Amanda at the expense of long time Genoa City. residents like Kevin, Paul, Michael, and Lauren. For whatever reason the writers continue to keep a dysfunctional Billy and his new buddy on screen, most times together. No one however is even considering these two as a serious couple. Fans of The Young and the Restless have been saying on social media that they believe that Jason Patrick’s character is being destroyed and will soon be off the canvas. Watching Billy these last few months has been like looking at a long slow painful goodbye. He and Amanda have been doing this song and dance for so long that some viewers are disgruntled.

On Wednesday, Billy told Phyllis that he wanted a fresh start and she told him she hopes he gets it. There are many people in Genoa City, including Phyllis who could warn Amanda that William Abbott is bad news. She has some reservations but as an attorney she should be able to spot trouble and run. Of course she has no idea how bad Ripley would turn out so perhaps her skills are limited to being a lawyer. Michelle Morgan is back on screen, but her new character, Amanda, does not have the same passion and determination that her look alike Hilary did. The doppelgänger does not seem to have found her place in Gemo City, while Billy seems to be losing his. Who knows, perhaps they might be good for each other after all.

Viewers are expressing their opinions that they don’t see Bamanda working out for the long hall and wonder what the writers are thinking. On Wednesday, Nate told Niki that Victoria’s PaTED is kicking in and that she has not gotten over her honking JT was murdered. Add to this the issues with Billy and what a Ripley did and she will need lots of healing. The children are caught in the middle of this fiasco and Vicki has stated she does not want Billy coming to the ranch to see them. Nikki is busy helping Sharon deal with chemo side efects and Victor is busy with Nick trying to stay one step ahead of Adam. At some point someone will have to set up a meeting for Billy to see his kids.

Now that Ripley has been incarcerated, Ananda is a free agent and certainly can do much better than Billy. The couple has shared a kiss but not gone any further and Y&R writers don’t give any clue of where this storyline is headed but fans don’t like it. Billy is always at his best when he is with Victoria and he was a good stepfather to Reed. Now, however, Reed believes Billy cheated on his mom and brought his new girlfriend to the Newman gala. This misunderstanding has caused the young man to think harshly of his stepdad. The writers are writing the character in a way, so that there probably will be no coming back from the damage this time.

Jill offered her son a job a Chancellor in order to keep him in line but it’s not clear yet if he will accept. Billy has essentially cut himself off from everyone except Johnny and Katie. He told Amanda that he was persona non grata to everyone but his children. Billy has no one to blame but himself because he continues to mess up just like everyone expects him to. He says he wants to live life on his own terms but his choices leave much to be desired. Stay tuned to The Young and the Restless weekday afternoons on CBS at 12:30 PM EST. The show will be preempted on Tuesday and Wednesday March 17 and 18 because of the NCAA basketball tournament.
