Robert Newman says goodbye to Ashland Locke

The Young and the Restless fans were stunned by how abruptly Robert Newman's (Ashland Locke) exit was. Since last October fans had been hoping at regular intervals that the bad guy in Genoa City was done but he remained. It was believed he would die of cancer but he was faking. Fans thought Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) would dump him before they got married but she didn't.

Once Vicki found out the truth about her husband's actions viewers again believed Ashland was a gonner but instead his wife kept him around and turned the tables on him. He lost his money and was put in jail and everyone turned on him but he just would not go away.

Spoilers teased a murder mystery and said that Adam Newman ( Mark Grossman) was going to assist Locke in faking his death and after the altercation with Nick Newman (Josh Morrow) Ashland's body disappeared. Fans were waiting to see Locke somewhere out there planning another attack but now he has been declared dead.

Ashland mystery has just begun

There are still questions like how the Lockeness Monster was able to get up and walk away when neither Nick nor his sister could find a pulse? There is also the issue of someone cleaning up the blood so there had t0 be another person or persons involved.

Some spoilers have teased that Victor Newman's (Eric Braeden) men removed the dead body and placed Ashland behind the wheel of his car. Spoilers have also teased that Locke may be dead but his murder mystery is just beginning. AN autopsy is scheduled that will let Nick know if he killed his former brother in law or if he died in the accident but most fans believe Locke was already deceased because neither Vicki nor Nic was able to find a pulse.

Chance Chancellor ( Conner Floyd) seemed suspicious of Victor on Thursday and questioned him in detail regarding the actions of the bodyguards he had watching Victoria. Victor claimed they were well out of sight and did not go into Vicki's house but Chance seemed skeptical.

The Young and the Restless kept Newman's exit under wraps but once his last scene was shown the actor quickly alerted fans to what was going on. His predecessor Richard Burgi did the same by letting viewers know immediately that he was let go because he returned to work after having Covid in 5 days based on CDC guidelines but Y&R required 10 days.

Whatever happens next and however long it takes to play out on screen one thing is certain. Newman's time on the CBS soap is up but he is already moving on to another project and couldn't be happier about it.

Robert Newman is headed to the stage

Newman shared with Soap Opera Digest that he is thankful to be spending time with his family and he already has a new gig. The veteran actor says that he will be on stage in Rock of Ages, the musical at the Barn Theater in Augusta, Michigan portraying Dennis Dupree. He added that if any fans in the Michigan area are interested in seeing him they should be sure and come out to watch his performance.

Newman became a sap icon when he portrayed Josh Lewis on the CBS daytime drama Guiding Light. He was paired with Kim Zimmer who portrayed Reva Shane and the duo was considered a super couple. Newman married Britt Helfer in 1986 and they have two children, Kendal Newman, and Connor Newman.

Be on the lookout for updates related to Robert Newman, Ashland Locke, and what comes next on The Young and the Restless.
