'The Young and the Restless' has many romances that are in trouble

Fans of The Young and the Restless are perplexed because certain couples are at a stand still or have broken up. Nothing is going the way spoilers or viewers expected so let's take a look at what is going on. Abby and Chance seem solid and Victor and Nikki are getting along. Nick and Phyllis are holding steady but many other romances have fizzled or are in trouble.

Devon and Amanda

When Mishael Morgan returned to The Young and the Restless, many viewers believed that she and Devon would get together. This would have been a dream come true for those who loved Morgan as Hilary Curtis. Thr storyline went around Robinhood's barn and became so complicated that now Ms. Sinclair is concerned that her late twin's widower might be using her to get back at Nate and Elena. At this writing, the two are stuck in the friend zone with no romance in sight.

Billy and Lily

Jill set her son and Cane's ex wife up to work together at Chancellor's media division. Many viewers expected the duo to hook up right away since they did so once in the past. Billy and Lily have both gone out of their way to be professional and keep it all about the company. People around them, however, are noticing a spark between the two and Victoria even warned Lily that her former husband was trouble. Lily has been trying to tread carefully but it's clear her feelings are growing. Some fans are on the edge of their seats waiting to see where this connection is headed.

Nate and Elena

Viewers saw the chemistry growing between Nate and Elena and it looked like they might get together. They had a one night stand and now are on different pages about the situation. Nate is falling for his cousin's ex, but she says their night together was a mistake. He keeps pushing her but Elena is standing her ground and pushing him away. She stopped working at the clinic and is trying to put distance between them.

Billy and Amanda

When Amanda first came to Genoa City she and Billy got pretty close. They were hanging out all the time when he was still with Victoria. Viewers were not sure where this was headed, and it seems to have gone nowhere. There are times, however, when the two give each other looks as if they wonder what might have been. There was awkwardness at first between Billy, Amanda, Lily but they seem to be working it out.

Devon and Elena

Bryton James and Britny Sarpy are dating in real time so fans expected them to stay together on Y&R. Since they are a couple they could do love scenes with each other without stand ins but the writers took them in a different direction. Devon kicked Elena out when he found out she slept with Nate. She is now living with Lola and trying to maneuver life as a single woman. There does not look like any chance the two will reunite which disappointed fans who wanted the duo to make it in reel time. Nate tried to date Amanda but his heart was not really in the relationsnhip and now he is hurt that Elena is not returning his feelings.

Adam and Sharon

Spoiler alerts have been predicting that Sharon and Adam would get together and Rey would leave town. Now this might not be possible because of Faith. Billy's expose revealed how Adam kidnapped her as a baby and Faith is being bullied. She recently gave her uncle a piece of her mind about the situation and is very angry about it. Anything can change in the land of soap opera's but it's not likely under these circumstances that Sharon would move forward with Adam and hurt her daughter further. Mark Grossman and Sharon Case are also an off screen couple and viewers were waiting for them to heat up the screen. At least for now, the writers are not going in that direction but Shaddam fans can always hope. Adam kicked Chelsea to the curb so he has no one stopping him from pursuing Sharon. The resistance would all be on her and Faith.

Kyle and Summer

Spoilers said Kyle and Summer were going to take a break because of COVID restrictions but this duo has been ripped apart. Kyle's empathy for Lola caused Summer to feel a lot of emotions and she reacted badly. She broke off the engagement and left town. She returned to Genoa City to spy on Kyle and no one but Faith knew she was back. She misunderstands everything Kyle says and is acting like a brat. It does not help that Theo and Lola are on the sidelines giving their two cents at every turn. If spoilers are correct that this breakup is temporary, something needs to happen soon to get these two back together.

Theo and Lola

Kyle’s cousin and his former wife seemed promising but now it looks like they never really had a chance. They were thrown together when Lola was not yet over Kyle and she later found Theo is a big flirt with other women. A number of viewers wonder why they even slept together that one time. It now seems so pointless.
