Closure is needed and not more confusion

Chance and Abby have been apart since February and fans want absolute closure. Is Mrs. Chancellor really a widow or could her spouse return to Genoa City someday? When Donny Boaz was fired Y&R said the character would not be recast. Viewers are expressing their displeasure online due to the revelation o Friday's episode. Abby still does not have closure although it appears that Phillip Chancellor IV is deceased. It was first assumed that Donny Boaz would return to the role he originated but Melissa Ordway's spouse Justin Gaston stepped in during the wedding scenes. Some viewers were hoping he would remain in the role but he did not.

Y&R viewers are saying they would rather see Chance killed off Abby be left in limbo. Abby's future remains uncertain and fans want her to know without a doubt whether her husband is dead or alive. Y&R viewers don't want to see her moving on and her life settling down only for Chance to return. This entire year has been filled with uncertainty for Mrs. Chancellor as well as Y&R viewers who expected answers that never came. Boaz announced in December that he had COVID and never returned to the CBS soap. No explanation was ever given for why Chance was removed shortly after the wedding.

Abby believes Chance is alive

On Friday's Y&R episode, Christine Williams was the bearer of disastrous news. The building where Phillip Chancellor IV (Donny Boaz) and his comrades were stationed was blown up. Christine told Abby and Ashley that a bomb exploded and there are no known survivors. Without a positive ID Abby will continue to believe for the best. The writers could have allowed Chance to die in a manner that left no doubt that he is gone. They have left Abby instead with uncertainty when she as well as the fans need closure. Abby is holding out hope that her husband was somewhere else and still alive. Spoilers say that Abby's village will be there for her on Monday as the news spreads throughout Genoa City. Everyone will be shocked by this news.

Devon will step up

Ashley was with her daughter when Chris gave her devastating report on Chance. As Abby refuses to accept that her spouse may have perished team Dominic will fall into line. On Monday Tessa and Mariah will go to the Chancellor mansion to support their friend any way they can. Devon will have a lot on his mind as in addition to his concern about Abby, he will be thinking about baby Dominic possibly growing up without his adopted father. Should Chance's death be confirmed Devon will step up as the little boy's godfather. He will probably steer clear of pushing for his rights as Dominic's biological father at least for now.

Abby needs to begin a new chapter

Until Abby receives confirmation that her spouse is deceased she won't be able to move on. Her support team will be there to help her if she allows but she is not ready to accept the possibility of being a widow. She is going to hold out that somehow Chance escaped and will return to her. Perhaps Nina and Jill will be on hand to comfort Abby during this difficult time. More than anything The Young and the Restless needs to bring this chapter in Abby's life to a close. Give her proof that Chance is dead and allow her time to mourn him. She needs to begin the next chapter of her life and many fans believe Devon should be in it.
