'The White Lotus' is an excellent example of character depth.

I wonder what we’ll do on vacation. I’m sure this hotel will be relaxing.

The White Lotus is a 2021 HBO series about a set of couples and families on vacation at The White Lotus hotel. Each undergoing their own dilemmas, they all try to make the best of the week.

I am so glad that I took interest in The White Lotus based on its popular Emmy wins. Right from the beginning, it’s easy to get invested in the story and characters. One of my favorite parts about any series is when we have a vignette of stories. The White Lotus is an excellent example of character depth.

The cast of The White Lotus is commendable. Several notable talents appear making for a superb series. This show is an excellent example of character depth. On vacation, you run into several zany characters. Plus, there’s always someone you can relate to.

Steve Zahn has become one of my favorite actors. He is always so expressive in the best of ways. Finding out a shocking family secret, Mark becomes so deflated. But it also helps him reach out to his family.

I have seen Connie Britton in other films, mostly in small roles. Her performance in this series cemented how talented of an actress she is.

Winning the Best Supporting Actress award, Jennifer Coolidge is a riot! She goes all out in her character’s bizarre personality. She had the best deliveries. My favorite scene of all is when she is making a dramatic narration with her mother’s ashes on a boat.

I had mixed opinions about Shane and Rachel’s (Jake Lacy and Alexandra Daddario) storyline. I feel bad for how Rachel is treated. That is the main intent of the series. We don’t have to agree with the character's actions.

More credits include Murray Bartlett, Fred Hechinger, Brittany O’Grady, Natasha Rothwell, Sydney Sweeney, and several more memorable talents.

Only appearing in the first episode, why didn’t Loni (Jolene Purdy) appear in the rest of the season? Unless her short appearance introduced us to the humorous tone of the series, writers should have brought her back.

The White Lotus is all based on the characters. They’re all flawed. The writing is strong. Mike White deserves a hand with realistic portrayals and storylines. There were a couple of storylines that ended too soon or didn’t go anywhere.

Acquainting in real life, due to Covid, the cast remained in a bubble in the hotel they were filming in. And so the cast ate meals together - but in character. That’s a good exercise to get ready for the series.

Who wouldn’t want to get away for a vacation? I am so jealous that the characters got to stay in this beautiful resort in all the comfortable rooms. The resort, beaches, and the whole island is beautiful.

Relationships are a key theme in The White Lotus. Not only that, but it is all about your pathway. Our lives are all based on our decisions. It’s not our fault that life gets in the way. Just make your life what you want and not according to someone else’s book.

Be warned that there are inappropriate scenes and even nudity in the series. It still made for the best of laughs.

Thankfully, the show has been picked up for a second season. I binged the first season in two weeks. I cannot wait to see what new storylines happen. Watch The White Lotus on HBO. It’s a good one, you’ll be laughing, and it will make you think.
