2020 is definitely a dark year for everyone.

It has become even more darker with the passing of Chadwick Boseman, who died on August 29th, 2020 at the age of 43 of Colon Cancer.

With this sad and sudden passing of the king of Wakanda the future of Black Panther is now debatable.

There is talk that the sequel will have Shuri (Letitia Wright) as the protagonist now that Wakanda has lost its king. What happens to T'Challa in the movies is unknown for now, but hopefully a replacement can be found, because I don't want him to be killed off.

This post is a more of an idea board for who should be the next T'Challa and other ideas for the Black Panther series. So, don't think for a minute that I will ever get over the loss of Chadwick Boseman.

Aldis Hodge

Best known for his role as Alec Hardison the funny and brilliant hacker from Leverage, he has yet to make an even larger role on the big screen compared to the small screen.

One question would remain about him though: will he be able to handle the pressure of having to be the King of Wakanda and filling the big shoes left behind by Chadwick Boseman?

Peter Mensah

Having played Oenomaus or Doctore as you know him to be from the Spartacus series would not be a surprising choice in my opinion. He certainly is a physically fit looking individual as did Boseman, plus, he did appear in the second Hulk film so he is no stranger to the Marvel universe.

Donald Glover

He did a phenomenal job of playing Lando Calrissian in the 2018 Star Wars spin-off Solo which is owned by Disney and they own Marvel. So, Marvel would not have to look too far to find someone to play the role of the King of Wakanda.

John David Washington

The former St. Louis Rams quarterback and star of the Spike Lee movie Black Klansmen and playing the role of The Protagonist in the recent movie Tenet, has yet to make his mark in the world of comic book movies, but he still should be given the option of playing T'Challa.

Chris Chalk

He is no stranger to comic book entertainment after playing Lucius Fox in the Batman series prequel Gotham and is currently playing Paul Drake in the Perry Mason prequel series. Whether he wants to play T'Challa or not remains to be determined.

David Oyelowo

Playing the role of T'Challa is filling some pretty big shoes. So why not have an actor who filled some even bigger shoes playing the great Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. in the 2014 film Selma?

John Boyega

The former Star Wars actor has expressed no desire to return to a galaxy far, far away, so like Donald Glover, why should Marvel not ask him if he wishes to play T'Challa?

Stephen James

Another actor who filled big shoes in the 2014 movie Selma portraying a young John Lewis. So Like David Oleyowo, why not give him a shot at being the King of Wakanda?

Some ideas for other Black Panther movies

Whether or not my choices get picked for replacing Chadwick Boseman as King T'Challa/Black Panther remains as my opinion, but I just don't want T'Challa to be written off completely in any future Black Panther movie projects.

With that being said there are two ideas I have for prequels to the series

Black Panther 1942 (movie idea)

Taking place during World War 2, the Axis forces has taken North African. The evil Hydra organization has learned of Wakanda's secret and wish to seize the African nation.

Seems like an appropriate plot for the movie. The king of Wakanda and Black Panther of the time was Azzuri. It could be where he fights alongside the Allied forces to expel Hydra and the Third Reich from the African continent

Captain America could make an appearance, even though Chris Evans has no intention of returning as the Sentinel of Liberty.

I have suggestions of who should play T'Challa's grandfather at https://www.mycast.io/stories/black-panther-1942/roles/azzuri/977585

Black Panther: The Beginning

The people who first settled Wakanda lived with mythical beasts before the coming of the meteorite that brought forth their Vibranium.

It was then that the first Black Panther since prehistoric times, Bashenga established the cult of the Black Panther and united the kingdom of Wakanda.

Bashenga is briefly seen at the beginning of Black Panther when the brief history of Wakanda is explained.

How the plot of the movie would be played out and who would play Bashenga remains to be determined.

But aren't any of you the least bit curious as to seeing a movie about how Wakanda began?

Final thoughts

The death of Chadwick Boseman is a great tragedy and he had much more to give to the world.

He had played great African-Americans in history such as Jackie Robinson, James Brown and Thurgood Marshall. So being a comic book hero wasn't the only role Boseman was good for.

Wakanda will never be the same without you Chadwick Boseman

May the Panther God be with you and rest in power my king.
