The King of the Hill Reboot

Long Live the King

The King of the Hill reboot was great usually when a series is reboot it comes back for a season but with King of the Hill it came back for 2 more and I hope that there will be more to come. The series was created by Mike Judge the brilliant mind and creator of Beavis and Butthead which also saw reboots and that happened with that series I am so glad that it also happened with King of the Hill. Hulu had picked up the series reboot allowing for a little more adult and mature content to be on the series.

In the series reboot we see Hank and Peggy return to America from the Middle East where Hank’s job Strickland Propane had sent him to see the operations and they come back to a culture shock. We learn Boomhauer got involved with someone and she has a son, Bill became a shut in and told people that Peggy was his wife and she had died. Dale ran for governor and won. The boys are just as wacky as they ever were in the original season. We also learned that Kahn and Mihn had gotten a divorce. Luckily, Hank and Peggy are able to adjust to the changes and life in Arlen.

In the original King of the Hill Bobby Hill the son of Hank and Peggy had wanted a career as a Prop comic but became a chef and opened his own fusion restaurant with school rival Chang. His restaurant is a success. He and Joseph Gribble are room mates. Quite frankly, though the gang have evolved they still are the same and their lives pick up where the original series left off except for the absense of Luanne, Lucky, and their daughter.

I am currently watching season 15 of the reboot and it is great as always the writers on the show come up with some wild stories but in the fictional town of Arlen, Texas and the Hank and the boys of Rainey street life goes on as usual. In one episode Peggy almost jeopardizes Bobby’s restaurant from getting a good review when it was revealed that the food critic reviewing his food was once a student of hers who has a grudge because she had failed his paper. Another is the guys have to rescue Bill from a cuddle therapy class that he got involved in. Another episode had something to do with Hank and chickens. Bobby goes on a cooking reality tv show. Peggy goes into menopause and straight laced Hank Hill buys her some marijuana. Bobby and Kahnnie consummated their relationship if you know what I am saying.

Going back to the season 14 of the reboot there was a lot going on too for example Hank and Bobby compete in a beer making competition. John Redcorn is still around only he and Nancy are selling real estate. How Hank adjusts to modern life is funny as it always had been. Joseph is just like his father I am not sure how he evolved except for the fact that he and Bobby are room mates. We lost a lot of good voices from the series with this I close the article with a tribute by mentioning what role each character had lost their lives: the voice of Dale Gribble, the voice of Chuck Mangione, the voice of John Redcorn, the voice of Lucky, and the voice of Luanne. Rest in Peace to Lady Bird. In the reboot other characters also occupy the alley when Hank, Dale, Boomhauer, and Bill aren’t standing drinking there. Yep.
