Ends talk

The original Halloween film is considered a masterpiece. It is literally this author's favorite film/ horror film of all time. The music and cinematography were superb, and Michael's aesthetic and presence was absolutely terrifying and that breathing sound he made was straight up terrifying.

It had some humor and was legit creepy. It still felt campy and kept itself more a fantasy slasher world than Halloween 2018. Halloween 2018 expanded on the Laurie Strode, making her character better in 2018 than she was in the original Halloween film. It felt more like if the original was set in the real world. We felt Judith's death more in a real world setting than we did in the original.

Green mixed the world of screaming police sirens and Haddonfield Halloween mayhem to a blend of Halloween chaos and real-world crime thriller to brilliant effect. Allyson was a sympathetic heroine and the bond between her and her estranged grandmother is really sweet and the sweetest thing I had seen since The original Conjuring, Lili Taylor's character hugging April and saying, ''I'm sorry.''

Halloween Kills blended some nostalgia and cheese and gore and Kept Michael Myers strong. Halloween Ends was where the problems started. Cory was likeable enough. Jeremy was an asshole and deserved his fate. Fuck that brat!!! Halloween Ends performed a cardinal movie sin. Michael looked weak and ineffective. The beating and the bleeding were from four years ago in that film.

Fuck telling me he was old. He had whipped an entire town just four years earlier. Explain to me why he was suddenly too weak to fight off Cory. Even if it was, ''I need you to lead me to Laurie,'' so I let you whip me and take my mask.

It was just lazy nonsense. ''I wanted to give hints at stuff but never really explain it,'' Paul Brad Logan said.

Fuck that and fuck you. Michael suddenly looking like a wimp need explained. The real Michael wouldn't have let Cory go. He would have slit his throat or crushed his larynx. Was Michael unlocking his evil? Was Michael feeling sympathy for Cory?

It made no sense. No stalking, no nothing. Michael was not in the movie nor was his presence felt for the first forty - five minutes of the film. You wanted these twat bullies, the creeper Doctor, the sheriff and Joan to die. It still didn't have suspense somehow. It felt flat and mid.

as weird, stupid and forced. Cutting out the DJ's tongue and it is spinning on the record was cool. The climax was too quick. Michael reaching up and dragging Laurie in the wood chipper with him could have been a nice touch.

Halloween Ends was a lot of wasted potential. Michael's presence should have been felt since the beginning. Michael should have either been the sole killer or killed Cory to anger Allyson. Laurie and Allyson could team up and vow to hunt down Michael Myers.

The new shape should have been revealed at the end. It would have set up a new movie and fit the theme better, ''Evil just changes shape.'' It would have felt more like his spirit lived through this new vessel.

Michael Myers slaughtered an entire town to get to Karen after she provoked him. Now he is living in a sewer, weak and feeble and allowing 21-year-old guys that get beat up by marching band kids in high school? Absolute garbage and lazy writing. Michael Myers is a bit of a power fantasy for some, and this film robs people of that.

Because it is a film, people give themselves the opportunity to experience these characters and you castrated the boogeyman because you wanted to go artsy with it. This was Michael Myers' finale. He would never go out with a whimper like that.

Ends hinted at some weird supernatural explanations. Michael unlocking Cory's evil, why Cory could man handle the boogeyman after saying, ''you're just a man.'' We need those things explained. Even if it's something as stupid and simple as, ''Michael was more myth than man, many of his feats have been greatly exaggerated and now we see Myers is just a man.''

This is pretty cryptic too, but it hints at an explanation as to why Michael is suddenly a giant wuss in Ends.
