The Disasters is imminent! The Enforcer, Bimara, Glider Henchman #4 and Snowglobe are D-list supervillains, and that's on a good day! All they want is the proper respect due to criminals of their "lofty" status. But when they each contribute to the (mostly) inadvertent death of one of the world's greatest superheroes, they soon discover that being America's most wanted isn't all it's cracked up to be!

I rather enjoy doing what I do and more so when out of the blue someone sends me a book to review. I was thrilled that Micah thought enough of my site to ask me to review this. I wasn’t sure what to expect but I have to say it surely wasn’t this. It has been a while since I’ve read a book that is crafted to be as humorous and entertaining as this one is and I laughed continuously while reading this. Funny books as my grandmother used to call them haven’t been all that funny of late and it’s nice to see this kind of elevated lowbrow kind of humour that is incredibly unique feeling. Oh happy days it is when you get to read this.

I think the way that this is being told is pretty brilliant. The story & plot development that we see through how the sequence of events unfold as well as how the reader learns information is presented exceedingly well. The character development is sensational and this is because of how we see the dialogue, the character interaction as well as how they act and react to the situations and circumstances that they encounter which bring their personalities to the forefront amazingly well. The pacing is superb and as it takes us through the pages revealing the story, introducing us to the characters and the world they inhabit we’re drawn into their newfound friendship alongside them.

I like the way that this is being structured and how we see the layers within the story emerge and grow. I think it’s pretty brilliant how we see and become a part of the origins of these characters and while the bonding has less to do with what they’ve done it does have this affect of bringing them together to create something of a new team. I like the depth and complexity that this brings to the story. How we see everything working together to create the story’s ebb & flow as well as how it moves the story forward is achieved exceedingly well.

The interiors here are really rather nice. I like the quaint charming way that we see the linework and its varying weights being utilised to create the detail work that we see. By the way Grumpy Cat is awesome. How we see backgrounds being utilised to enhance the moments as well as bring us this depth perception, sense of scale and the overall sense of size and scope to the story is magnificently rendered. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels show such an incredibly talented eye for storytelling. The colour work is fantastic as well. How we see the various hues and tones within the colours being utilised to create the shading, highlights and shadow work is fabulously rendered.

This is an unexpected gem of a treat. It has depth and gravitas while also providing us with this outside the box sense of humour that gives this its charm. And yes as advertised Fancy Pig is a new favourite character, well almost because we need to see more of him and get a better sense of his personality. Overall if you want to get caught up in some spectacular storytelling that balances a character driven story with some absolute laugh out loud moments than do your soul a favour and pick this up!
