The Bold and the Beautiful: Steffy is partially to blame for Finn’s demise

The relentless pursuit of a mad woman and not backing down is one reason things went so horribly wrong.

Is Steffy reaping what she sowed?

On The Bold and the Beautiful, the writers were giving clues that some type of showdown was coming between two characters. The aftermath is that John Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) is dead and his wife Steffy Forrester Finnegan ( Jackie Wood) is in the hospital fighting for her life.

Viewers are stunned that Novlan was let go from his role and are assuming Steffy will remain in a coma as long as Wood is out on maternity leave. Finn’s psychopathic mother Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) pulled the trigger but in all fairness, Steffy must take her fair share of the blame. One could say that Mrs Finnegan is reaping what she has sown.

It’s natural for B&B viewers to express sympathy for Steffy and grieve for Finn but this tragedy was avoidable. Sheila is dangerous and certifiable and even once shot Steffy’s mom Taylor Hayes (Krista Allen). For that reason, she should have been handled with kid gloves as she does not make rational decisions on her best day.

Steffy should have known better

Steffy knows how crazy her mother-in-law is. Instead of backing off she kept pushing as if she did not know Sheila would come unglued and retaliate. Steffy believed she was standing up for her family and showing her strength but made several wrong moves. She told Sheila outright that she would never allow her to have a place in the life of her grandson Hayes Finnegan.

Steffy berated her husband's mother time and time again often in front of others. She even went so far as to demand that Finn have nothing to do with his mother and once even slapped Sheila in the face. After overhearing her brother Thomas Forrester on the phone with Ms. Carter, Steffy learned that Brooke’s drink was spiked. She went off half-cocked without any backup and cornered a madwoman in an ally.

Did she really believe she alone could make Sheila back off? Steffy should have considered her two daughters and not taken any unnecessary risks where her mothe-in-law was concerned. Steffy should have known not to poke the bear and has now paid a steep price. Thomas Forester should also share in the blame because he could have prevented the tragedy.

If he had revealed that Sheila is responsible for Brooke's drinking and kissing Deacon Finn might still be alive. In real-time most people know not to antagonize a wild animal and that’s exactly what Sheila is. She is deranged, cold, calculating and self-serving. Each time Steffy confronted her you could see both women seething and it felt like a buildup to tragedy and so it was.

The Bold and the beautiful fake out

Steffy was confrontational each time she encountered Finn’s mom and looked as though she would explode. B&B was setting the fans up for their big showdown and Finn was the loser. Many viewers were probably pro "Sinn" and anti-Sheila they were not paying attention to the fake-out.

Steffy was becoming more enraged with each passing day and it led her to act without thinking it through. Now her husband is dead and her life in grave danger from her wounds as well as Finn's mom. It would be just like Sheila to dress up as a doctor or nurse and sneak into the hospital to finish the job.

The rumor mill is already suggesting that Wood may not return to The Bold and the Beautiful after the birth of her third child but the actress has not said anything to confirm this. Spoilers are now predicting that Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) will find his feelings for his ex-wife growing so stay tuned.
