Comparing the newest installment of Batman to previous Batman movies

On August 22, 2o21, Warner Bros. Pictures released the first confirmed trailer for the new Batman series coming out in 2022. The film cast includes Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, and Barry Keoghan. I am personally extremely excited for this movie to come out. This will be the first time that a Batman movie follows the comic events and the theme of the comics. In the Batman comics, typically the theme is very dark and a bit creepy and what is shown in the trailer it seems that portray that very well.

In previous Batman sagas including, The Dark Knight Trilogy, the theme was very different from what was being shown in the comics. The events within the movies were not at all close to what happened in the actual comics. Another example is Batman & Robin by Joel Schumacher which was overall a pretty badly rated movie, but it also does not match the theme and aura that Batman is suppose to have. One thing that they did get correct was some of the events that occurred within the movie including the fight against Mr. Freeze and the character design for Poison Ivy.

Some other things I am also looking forward to was the events shown in the trailer. There was different imagery that hinted to The Riddler making an appearance in the movie. The imagery including a letter found on a corpse that stated, "To The Batman" in clunky handwriting at the beginning of the trailer and later on another note with the same handwriting and message was taped onto a person who drove a car into the funeral for the first victim.

Another thing that can be spotted within the trailer is a man at the timestamp 1:18 who I am predicting it to be Don Falcone. This is because earlier on in the trailer when the police are investigating the first murder you can see the murderer wrote "LIAR" all over the news clippings about Don and that he should continue what he's doing. I can infer from this and my prior knowledge of the comics that Falcone was part of the local government and politics and that the murderer does not approve of him.

The last major detail I noticed within the trailer is multiple scenes with people having their faces painted white with black paint over their eyes. This might indicate that either the joker could show up because this is how his henchman are portrayed in the comics. Another possibility is that another villain or group could appear that has henchman that dress the way shown in the trailer. This could be the first time that this person has been portrayed in a live action movie and new to the DCEU(DC Entertainment Universe). The last possibility is that penguin could appear and these could be his henchman. On the IMDB page it confirms that the character of penguin will be in the movie, but it is still unconfirmed if the character will become penguin or stay normal for this movie.

Overall, I am really excited for this movie to come out and add to the DCEU. This will help with setting up future Batman movies and also help with other movies that help produce a consistent timeline for future DC movies to come. Also, I just am a sucker for any kind of representation from the comics, so if it just seem the smallest bit close to the comics I will most likely enjoy it. Lastly, my favorite kind of movies are action and horror which are the two main genres of this movie, which is also new to the DCEU. The Batman will be the first horror movie to be in and canon with the rest of the events that have happened before and later on in the universe.
