Lucy first captured the public’s attention during season nine of Australia’s Next Top Model where her striking looks charm and fierce determination made her a fan favorite. Though she finished as a runner up her appearance on the show opened many doors and she quickly became a rising star in the fashion world gracing magazine covers and walking runways both in Australia and internationally. Markovic’s untimely death was confirmed by her long time partner Carlos who shared a heartfelt message on social media. Lucy passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and loved ones he wrote. She was strong brave and full of light until the very end. We are devastated but we are also grateful to have shared our lives with someone so extraordinary. According to her family Lucy had been diagnosed with arteriovenous malformation a rare and potentially life threatening condition in which a tangle of blood vessels in the brain disrupts normal blood flow. AVMs often go undetected until they cause symptoms such as headaches seizures or bleeding in the brain which tragically is what led to Lucy’s passing.

The couple’s decision to remain a close knit unit became even more poignant following Eric Dane’s recent announcement that he has been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) a progressive neurodegenerative disease.
