When you watch an episode of Starz hit television show, Outlander, you are treated to an, edited for time, version of "Skye Boat Song" performed by Bear McCreary feat. Raya Yarbrough. This is a song that was written about a historical event, and is considered a folk song in Scotland that has been recorded a number of times since it was written. Written in the 19th century by Sir Harold Boulton, the song's lyrics told the story of the escape of Scotland's Bonnie Prince Charlie to the Isle of Skye following the Jacobite Revolution's defeat at the Battle of Culloden in 1746. Bonnie Prince Charlie, with the aide of the sympathies of Flora MacDonald, said to be disguised as a maid was able to obtain the passes needed to make the trip to the Isle of Skye where he continued movement to avoid capture.

As a fan of the franchise, I eagerly anticipated this new chapter, hoping to be transported once again to the far reaches of the cosmos. While the movie delivered on some fronts, with its signature wit and compelling character development, there were aspects that left me wanting more.

So we’ve done season 1 and talked about the major decisions that moved the plot along in the first season. And these videos are going to get a little longer as the show goes on because the subject matter also gets heavier. And some of the decisions that are made hit really close to home for me because I am also someone who has struggled with my mental health for quite a while now. And I think I’m going to do BoJack Horseman in congruence with Crazy Ex-Girlfriend because I do see a lot of parallels that I want to talk about. So with that, season 2 of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

The second season begins with a young BoJack watching Secretariat's interview while his parents scream at each other. The first day of filming doesn’t go as planned and really the amount of layers to this is amazing, there is the fact that he was a comedy sitcom star and maybe that mean he really isn’t a good actor, then there's the fact that he’s trying so hard to be a changed man and therefore he can’t go to the place he needs to go emotionally in order to play this part.

Okay, April was a rough month reading wise; I didn’t love either of the books I read. Everything else was…fine? April was the last month of my first (and potentially only) semester of graduate school, so my focus was on my final essay.

A24’s latest ten part comedy drama series Beef, featuring Steven Yeun and Ali Wong is a self-destructive tale of two people who find solace in getting revenge at each other after a road rage incident gets a little out of hand. The show tells an amazing story that not only highlights common cultural and generational problems Asian Americans face, but it explicitly showcases the dangers and effects of long term emotional suppression.
