Melissa ClarkPublished 3 years ago in GeeksClassic Movie Review: 'Fast Five' is Sooo Dumb but Sooo Fun
Boy, Fast Five is a dumb movie. Truly, Fast Five is remarkably, unabashedly ludicrous. The dunderheaded stupidity of Fast Five is both a virtue and a curse as it frees the filmmakers from the boundaries of logic, of rationality, of taste; it's dumb to a point where you sympathize with the idiocy as you would sympathize with that one kid in a grade school for whom 2 + 2 is a monumental challenge. On the other hand, Fast Five is so dumb at times it's physically painful to watch. But it's also so much fun that it is downright irresistible.
Sean PatrickPublished 3 years ago in GeeksMovie Review: 'Rollers' is a Warm and Inviting Dramatic Comedy
Rollers is the rare movie about an alcoholic character that portrays the often mundane nature of alcoholism. People tend to focus on the rock bottom aspects of alcoholism but rarely is there a story told about someone in the midst of their problems, before everything falls apart, before alcoholism becomes something that ruins a life. Much of the life of an alcoholic can be a rollercoaster ride for family and friends but often alcoholism isn’t something you recognize right away, it’s a series of seemingly unconnected nights of drinking that only begin to add up over a long period of time.

Lansky uses a framing device of a made up character in order to tell the supposed real life story of gangster Meyer Lansky, as portrayed by Harvey Keitel. Lansky was written and directed by Eytan Rockaway who based the film on interviews conducted by his own father, Robert Rockaway, a History professor at Tel-Aviv University who specialized in researching the history of American Organized Crime. The elder Rockaway wrote a book called ‘But He Was Good to His Mother: The Lives and Crimes of Jewish Gangsters” in which his interviews with Lansky were a key part.
Sean PatrickPublished 3 years ago in GeeksMoments - 04 - The Rock (Shower Room Shoot-Out)
The Rock is one of the first films that I remember watching, and after all these years, it has remained in my mind. The characters, the narrative, the action, the soundtrack are all well executed. Though what has left the strongest impression was the shower room scene at the midway point in the film. In my younger years why that scene stood out was a mystery to me, however with age and understanding, meaning and interpretation has come about leading me to appreciate the scene even more than simply liking it because it was cool.
A random three-peat of X-Men movies
22JUN2021; 2305, TUE Well, it's Taco TUE again as well as another Buddy Check 22nd; for the 22 Vets a day that couldn't live with their invisible scars anymore. On a spur of the moment tip, I decided to have another movie marathon, while waiting on the VA (or Dept of Veterans Affairs) to finally call me back about a new therapist.
Nefarious DarriusPublished 3 years ago in GeeksThe problem with Disney...
I love Disney. For as long as I can remember, it has dominated my life. From watching movies as a kid and then later, falling in love with the Disney parks — reigniting my passion. I honestly sometimes think they just can't do any wrong.

Delise FantomePublished 3 years ago in Geeks Movie Review: 'Werewolves Within' Brings the Fun of Social Deduction Games to the Big Screen
Werewolves Within is a wildly clever comedy based on a social deduction game, one in which one character is a hidden werewolf and the rest of the players have to use questions and clues to determine who the werewolf is. The game was made for the Playstation console several years ago and an adaptation of the game had been in the works for some time when director Josh Ruben and writer Mishna Wolff won the chance to make the movie. And they made quite a good movie.
Sean PatrickPublished 3 years ago in GeeksClassic Movie Review: 'Fast & Furious'
The Fast and the Furious is one of the greatest guilty pleasure movies ever. Of course the plot is meaningless and the acting is comically over the top and undercooked, great acting was never the point. The Fast and the Furious was about cars. Big engines, high speeds and killer paint jobs. Throw in a few bullets and a few extraordinary women and you have a recipe for a B-movie, drive in masterpiece.
