Moonbound - A D&D fanfiction
"So, what d'you think's out here?" Lysander glances up at Kassandra. "Not sure. Reports were kinda vague. Probably just an animal or something," she shrugs.

“Final Notice!” I rip off the bright orange paper the Water Company taped to the door and crumple it into the side pocket of my bookbag. That’s the last thing my mom needs to see on her birthday. I’ll just give it to her tomorrow. She doesn’t need another reminder about our delinquent bills. She knows.

“Before you go in to your final room, I just wanted to have a chat with you. Why don't I break the ice; let me tell you a secret. A lifetime ago, I used to be sitting right there, where you are sitting. I used to be considered ‘undesirable’. I used to have the strongest belief in individuality and independent thinking. I secretly hated both parties and dreamed of rebellion. I believed I really was ‘The Last Man in Europe’.
The Prophecy
I could feel the warm, thick sensation of blood pooling at my fingertips. Slowly rubbing my finger and thumb together I realised I was not imagining this. My eyes dart open and I am blinded by a light so bright I could only guess I was dead.

Strength is life, for the strong have the right to rule. Honor is life, for with no honor one may as well be dead. Loyalty is life, for without one's clan one has no purpose.

Authors Note: As both a Dungeons & Dragons player and an author, I've decided to retell sessions of a recent campaign I've started with my friends. This is not simply a transcription. I have put this in my own voice based on the events that "happened" in the campaign session as I would if I were writing a fantasy novel through traditional mechanisms. I'll put this note at the start of any following episodes in case people are just tuning in.

I miss Michael. There, I said it. Now I’m all alone in the universe and he’s gone and I miss him. I’ve looked from one end of the planet to the other and no-one else comes close, though I can’t think why. There are nine billion humans on this planet, you’d think I’d fancy one of them and have it reciprocated.

She said her name was Janet which Bat Janet found offensive because Bat Janet thought Janet was the sort of Janet who gave all Janets a bad name (bad name) and lead to all those dumb Janet jokes and memes[1] that were clogging up the internet. Janet's crime against humanity was be in line for twelve minutes - it was at least twelve minutes; she was already in line when Bat Janet walked in the Starbucks - and then, when she finally got to the register, still not know what she wanted. Then after numerous questions, she finally decided on something - "a tall, non-fat latte with caramel drizzle, in a grande cup" - Callie the barista smiled at her and said, "oh, the usual, then?" The usual? You hemmed and hawed for five minutes just to order 'the usual', Janet? Bat Janet was not pleased. Bat Janet was sitting in judgement of Janet, and finding Janet guilty.
