Dear Musical Theatre Fans...
I didn't particularly want to write this. I love musical theatre, I am a textbook musical theatre boy. I am currently listening to Sondheim as I type this. But sometimes you musical theatre fans drive me up the wall. To quote the show in question, "ya'll could REALLY drive a person crazy."

Josh A. GutkinPublished 7 years ago in GeeksFriendship In Modern Media – The Kermode and Mayo Film Review and Prepare to Try
In my experience, friendship in media has not been displayed in popular culture in an accurate and relatable way. I only realised this when I came across the following excellent examples of friendship in media. These were found in the most unlikely places and I would like to share them with you in this article.
'Death Note' on Netflix
The hubby and I finally sat down to watch the new Death Note movie on Netflix. We had our doubts, but had planned on watching it the moment we realized it was released. It seemed like it could be a good movie. It really did. After all, I had been eyeing the anime for months. So, a movie had potential.
Jessie WhitePublished 7 years ago in GeeksThe 70's Film That Inspired BBC's Sherlock
You may or may not have heard of The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes (1970). Mark Gatiss, writer of BBC's hit Sherlock (2010) loves it: "it is a fantastically melancholy film," he says for the Guardian. "It was a template of sorts for Stephen Moffat and me as we made our adaptation for the BBC."
Why Shows Don't Need A Love Story
I believe a show can still be action-packed, full of mystery, adventure, beautiful, funny, full of drama and plot twists without having main characters fall in love with each other. It takes away from the plot when a TV show forces two characters to like or even love each other because the show does not know what else to do, so they make characters get in a relationship. Or they make characters get together because they think it fits the plot, but it doesn't. While, some are beautiful, others are so expected that it can make me want to stop watching the show.
"Acceptable" Media Diversity
In a world rife with division and controversy over what is right, what is politically correct, and what is offensive, there has been an interesting phenomenon which has taken over most media, and especially tv and movie, sources, which I like to call “acceptable” diversity.
My Opinion on The Dark Tower Film
It's been a month since The Dark Tower was released in theaters. I watched it opening weekend, and I must say, I don't think it was all that bad. Yes, there were some mistakes, but when it comes to films, nothing's perfect. There are always going to be plot holes and various things that can't be in the final product, which is to be expected, especially when one is familiar with the material, which is how this movie approached the subject. Anyone who hasn't read the books is going to be lost and a bit confused by the events, due to the short run time. It's rather difficult to fit everything into an hour-and-a-half.
Lillianna NightveilPublished 7 years ago in GeeksPlaywrights vs. Directors
I blame the cinema for one of the more annoying problems in live theater today. Films are created in a unique way. Someone writes a script and sells it to a producer. The producer turns the script over to a director, who hires the actors, and makes the film.
J.T. McDanielPublished 7 years ago in Geeks5 Dark Fantasy Novels that Need TV Adaptations
We are undoubtedly in a golden age of television, especially dark fantasy and horror, what with the recent successes of Game of Thrones, American Gods, and Stranger Things. With all these massive hits going around, we might be wondering where the next could come from. With two of the three aforementioned shows being adaptations of novels, it makes sense to look towards literature again for possibilities. Here are my Top 5 picks for novels that need to be adapted into shows.

Sean PatrickPublished 7 years ago in GeeksThe Pledge, Turn, and Prestige
Upon rewatching The Prestige, my writer brain turned on after the second line. The one where Cutter (Michael Caine) explains how every "magic trick consists of three parts or acts." I dug deeper into this epiphany and what I found on the other side was quite cool, if I do say so myself. What I’m going to propose is another way of looking at the three-act format.
