But San Diego Comic-Con is not a unique specimen. More and more, comic conventions of all sorts have been springing up, each with different focuses and different focuses.

“I am Spartacus!” Yes, I know it’s a meme, but it's been around since before memes even really existed—and I know that because I really love that movie. As much as I liked the classic film, I enjoyed the STARZ network television series even more.
James LizowskiPublished 7 years ago in GeeksThe Top 5 Fire Emblem Characters
For those of you who do not know what it is, Fire Emblem is a turn by turn strategy game series, released on various Nintendo platforms over the last couple decades. Originally only in Japan, Fire Emblem made its way here in 2003 on the Gameboy Advance. It did not get really popular however until recently, when some of its characters were featured on the 2 most recent Super Smash Brothers games. Characters like Marth, Ike became fan favorites, which led to Nintendo sending its two newest Fire Emblem Games (Fire Emblem Awakening, and Fire Emblem Fates) to the USA. On February 2nd, Fire Emblem Heroes will be released for mobile phones everywhere. To celebrate it, I decided to figure out who the best and my favorite Fire Emblem characters are.

Plus size cosplayers are making waves in the geek world. If you have ever been to a comic convention, you have seen these badass women walking the floors dressed as everything from Poison Ivy to Gandalf. These ladies consistently prove that you do not need to be a size zero to look good and you do not need to be a man to enjoy nerdy things. However, there are some self-proclaimed gatekeepers of geek culture who may not agree, who shame and harass these ladies because they do not fit their idea of a cosplayer. Here are some of the many unapologetic plus size cosplayers who prove the haters wrong day after day.

Matt CatesPublished 7 years ago in GeeksGeeky Weddings That You Won't Believe
I planned my wedding in two months, in a city I had never lived in, before Pinterest. So what I’m saying is that it was all generic fake floral centerpieces in a church gymnasium and everyone drank 15 cents a gallon red punch. What flavor was it? Red. I already said that. (There was no other flavor, sadly.) For those of you who have the good fortune to have a reasonable period of time to make wedding plans and a future spouse who’s just as nerdy as you are, here’s your inspiration. Whether you love video games like Super Mario and The Legend of Zelda, book series like The Hunger Games, or pretty much everything geeky under the sun, here are some couples who really went the distance when it came to making their special day just THAT much more special. For the most part, the bride and groom made the detailed costume pieces, centerpieces, bouquets, shoes, favors, and much more, showing a whole lot of dedication as fans as well as to each other. And if you just can’t get enough of this nerdy magic, check out the incredible website When Geeks Wed, where you’ll find pages upon pages of every geeky wedding detail you could possibly dream of.

Different people worry about different things. Families, careers, life goals, yada yada. Occasionally we worry about “trivial” things, too. Why didn’t Obi-Wan remember R2-D2 in A New Hope? Exactly how long did Luke spend training on Dagobah in Empire Strikes Back? There’s lots of things to consider when it comes to Star Wars, and consider them, I do.
Matt CatesPublished 7 years ago in GeeksCheck Out The Coolest 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Cosplays
Oh, Guardians of the Galaxy, how I love you. From the best Vin Diesel role of all time - I think a huge key here was covering him up with a CGI tree suit and only giving him three words to say - to the rocking soundtrack I have on repeat, it’s a seriously underrated movie that you can watch again and again. Not surprisingly, there are a lot of cosplayers out there who’ve made it their job to flawlessly recreate the characters. From Gamora to Groot, here are some of the best Guardians of the Galaxy cosplays from around the web. Try these on for your next con or save an especially challenging one for Halloween next year.
Sarah QuinnPublished 7 years ago in GeeksAdding Height In Cosplay
Height. It’s one of those things you can’t really do much about in cosplay, isn’t it? You can turn into a purple alien, a lizard person, or a cyborg through the use of makeup, you can get your werewolf or elf on with prosthetics, and you can drive people up the wall with your Waluigi vocal imitation, but you can’t get from 5'6 to 5'11 without throwing on a pair of six-inch heels and going as the stripper version of your character.
Anne St. MariePublished 8 years ago in Geeks'Doctor Who' Kitchen Products For Holiday Meals
The only thing Daleks will be exterminating this holiday season is the turkey or ham! They’ll probably overcook it, but the Doctor always has a backup plan for you. Unfortunately, your favorite British alien probably won’t be in attendance at your holiday dinner. However, you can still feel the Doctor’s presence with some cool geeky Doctor Who products. The only way it could be any better was if the Doctor Who Christmas Special got swapped for a Thanksgiving special. But unlikely, given the British don't celebrate Thanksgiving.
