Last year, Marvel thrilled the fan community by announcing that Runaways, a fan-favorite comic book series, would soon become part of the MCU. Although Marvel Studios had passed on the option of a movie, it won't be long until the Runaways will be making their way to Hulu.
The news that #CarrieFisher has sadly passed away has left fans reeling and emotional. She's best known for playing the part of Princess Leia in #StarWars — a role she reprised in last year's The Force Awakens. But in truth, Carrie Fisher had a lot more skills than just her acting clout; and as important and iconic as Leia Organa may be, the actor herself had a massive impact on the Star Wars films — and on more classics than you'd think!
When Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 began, fans were left with a mystery; why had the beloved Clark Gregg's Phil Coulson stepped down as Director? Because Season 4 is set six months after Season 3's climactic end, we didn't get to see his decision — nor did we see the transition, as Jason O'Mara's Jeffrey Mace took over. That said, dialogue through the series has gradually hinted at the story...
The tension has been building for fans of the #MCU; we know that many Marvel superstars are on their final movies, and so speculation is running rife that one or more of the iconic heroes will die in #InfinityWar. #RobertDowneyJr., for example, has been renegotiating new contracts for pretty much every appearance (he's due to show up in next year's Spider-Man: Homecoming), while #ChrisEvans officially only has one movie left before his contract comes to an end!
I'll tell you a secret about comic book fans; we can be remarkably possessive. You see it the most when a movie or TV series dares to actually change a character or concept, abandoning the original source material. Whether you're talking Tony Stark creating Ultron rather than Hank Pym in Avengers: Age of Ultron, or Batman shooting up his enemies in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, any change is always going to be controversial.
It's the topic of the week, and it shows no sign of dying down — how could Marvel turn Steve Rogers into a Hydra agent? As the Internet fires continue to burn, more and more comic creators and even actors are getting drawn into the controversy. Here are the best!
For months, fans have speculated as to who the teen sensation #Zendaya could be playing in #SpiderManHomecoming! Although it's seemingly official that the character's name is Michelle, many fans have insisted that this is a red herring, and that she's playing a totally different part. The most controversial suggestion was that she was actually Mary-Jane Watson, Spider-Man's most famous love interest.
At the end of August, Ben Affleck - now known to superhero fans everywhere as the definitive Batman - posted a video revealing that Deathstroke, the master-assassin, is about to enter the DC Extended Universe! Although there are building rumors that Deathstroke will be the main villain in the solo Batman film, the timing of this video - during filming of Justice League in London - suggests that the character will be making his movie debut in Justice League!
Superhero fans worldwide are getting seriously excited for #SuicideSquad, released this week. After the controversial reception of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, moviegoers are desperately hoping that the DC Extended Universe is about to see a real hit. Luckily, the trailers have been excellent, ranking among the best the superhero genre has ever produced.
Whether you loved or hated Suicide Squad, there's one thing you can't deny: the finished film bore little relation to the trailers. In fact, a lot of scenes from the trailer didn't even make it past the editing room floor, much to the frustration of the cast. To glean an idea of just how much footage was cut, take a look at the video below:
In 2007, the BBC produced a superb six-episode series known as Jekyll. Loosely based on Robert Louis Stevenson's classic The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, the series was a high-drama, semi-horror story that placed an ancestor of the original - played by James Nesbitt - in the present day. Today we learned that Liongate is adapting the series for Hollywood, and that none other than Chris Evans is considering taking the lead role!
