"Sylvie's Love" Is a Story of Timeless Love That Will Warm Your Heart

Sylvie's Love is a romantic drama film that was released in the United States on Amazon Prime on December 23, 2020, just in time for the Christmas holiday. The movie has been well received and is getting a lot of buzz. According to the film's website, the movie is "A romance for the ages. The story wraps audiences in the sweet embrace of its old-fashioned romance and celebration of Black love."

The setting takes place in Harlem, New York in the 1950s. Viewers will get a taste of the music, clothes, cars, hairstyles, and the culture of the time.

The entire movie centers around the on-again, off-again romantic encounters between Sylvie Parker, played by Tessa Thompson and Robert Halloway, played by Nnamdi Asomugha. Both stars are also executive producers of the film along with Eugene Ashe , Gabrielle Glore, Jonathan Baker , and Matthew Thurm.

According to the credits at the end, viewers learned that the file had been in a vault for five decades before it came to the big screen. That means the movie is actually older than most of the stars.

About the Movie

The main characters start a romantic relationship when Robert, a saxophonist goes into Sylvie's father's record store after seeing a "Help Wanted" sign in the window. Actually, he goes into the store to meet the woman he sees through the window.

Sylvie's father, played by Lance Reddick as Mr. Jay, hires Robert on the spot. Robert and Mr. Jay get along well because they both play the saxophone. Robert shows an interest in Sylvie before she responds because she is always busy watching television in the store. Besides, she is engaged. That is just one of the barriers Sylvie and Robert encounter throughout the film.

About Tessa Thompson As Sylvie Parker

Tessa Thompson is a 37-year-old actress, producer, singer, and songwriter. She started her career in 2002. She has numerous credits to her name. She gained some notoriety for her performance in the 2014 comedy-drama Dear White People and her performance as civil rights activist Diane Nash in the historical drama Selma that was also released in 2014. She played Bianca Taylor in the sport drama films Creed in 2015 and Creed II in 2018.

Tessa is a beautiful woman whose mother is White with Panamanian and Mexican ancestry. Her father is of Afro-Panamanian descent.

About Nnamdi Asomugha As Robert Halloway

Nnamdi Asomugha is a 39-year-old actor, producer, and former football cornerback. He spent 11 years playing football before he made his professional acting debut in the 2008 sitcom The Game. Since then he has earned several credits. Some might call him a late bloomer as an actor, but Variety named him one of the seven breakout performers of 2017. Sylvie's Love is giving him more recognition than his other movies. He produced The Banker which was released on March 6, 2020. However, he does not star in that movie.

Asomugha was born in Lafayette, Louisiana to Nigerian Igbo parents. He married the well-known Scandal actress Kerry Washington on June 24, 2013. Their daughter, Isabelle, was born in 2014, and their son, Caleb, was born in 2016.

Asomugha and Thompson appeared on Good Morning America on Monday, December 28, to discuss their movie. When co-host TJ Holmes asked what Kerry thought about the romantic movie, Asomugha revealed that his wife supports him as an actor and producer.
