The Man of Steel or The Dark Knight

Let’s start at the beginning, many years on the Planet Krypton lived scientists named Jor-El and his brother Zor-El. Jor-El had a wife named Lara Lor-Van and a son — Kal-El also known as Superman. Zor-El had a wife named Alura Zor-El and Daughter named Kara Zor-el also known as Supergirl. The planet of Krypton was on the verge of destruction when Jor-el and Zor-El sent their children to Earth. When Kal-El crashed onto Earth and was found by The Clarks, and they raised him, little did they know that he has powers. After being stuck in the Phantom Zone — His cousin Kara arrives a few years later to be raised by The Danvers, a family of scientists who helped Kal-El control his powers.

The origin story of Batman is a little darker — Bruce Wayne was out with his parents Dr. Thomas Wayne and Martha Wayne, and they were what people would call one-percenters or rich. As they left the theater they were confronted by a mugger, and he shot Bruce’s parents in cold blood. Bruce was raised by Alfred Pennyworth who is more than a butler — Alfred is a retired assassin that ended up working for the Wayne Family. Bruce used his fortune and managed to finance gadgets, gizmos, cars, and many suits with different capabilities and recruited Robin as his sidekick after Robin lost his family in a circus accident

We have all seen the 2016 adaptation of Superman vs. Batman featuring Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill. Honestly, the movie could have been made better, in a sense that the filmmakers could have adapted to the comics with more accuracy and focus less on the boring dialogue and dark lighting seventy-five percent of the movie. However, my thoughts are not based on the movie per se — but on whether Superman or Batman is my favorite superhero and the answer is… Superman! Now let me tell you why.

Superman is my favorite is because I can relate in a way — In my life, I have been different from others in my life almost like I am from a different planet and my parents found and loved me as their own. I have always been different when it comes to love, hobbies, and talent. Only a few people speak my language and I had people look at me like I was a strange visitor. Do not get me wrong I highly respect Batman for doing his part in cleaning up the streets of Gotham and protecting the people, but I am not a fan since he went after Superman the way he did and I cannot find him relatable because I believe there are other ways to deal with your inner demons.

While “Truth, Justice, and the American Way,” is the catch phrase our fellow Kryptonian stands for and that is very admirable, He saves people all over the world, and he does so with a solid moral compass, and he has a heart of gold within the man of steel. In a fight I think Superman will win regardless of the movie and comic — because Superman only has one weakness, kryptonite. Batman does not have any weaknesses other than the fact that he is human. Superman clearly has the advantage, but Batman has an almost unlimited supply of gadgets that could help defend against Superman’s powers.

In conclussion, Superman has a special place in my heart because I have a connection with him since I was a young kid and from the comic books to the big screen, He plays a big part in my life and others for sure. After all He is Superman.
