The Lisa Dora filling station sits in the middle of nowhere desert, usually pretty sleepy, but things are about to turn crowded real quick… Billy Joe and his gang The Red Noses have plans for this stretch of open desert: an all-out race to see who's the fastest, and worthy to lead the pack…

I was looking for a book and I came across this one by pure chance. Now I am obsessed with this story. So Magnetic Press if you are listening I need the entire run please and thank you. There is something about this book that manages to capture your mind, imagination, creativity and engages you so you become invested in the story. Plus just the way that this is constructed and the pure happenstance of what and where Billy Joe decides to go and what he’s going to do adds this whole slew of intrigue into the book. Not just because of the large cast of characters we are introduced to but through how we see them behave at the site and off the site. Everything conspires to work together to create so much more than a simple story; it becomes an experience of a lifetime once you really get a sense of what is going on here.

I absolutely love, love, love the way that this is being told. The story & plot development we see through how the sequence of events unfolding as well as how the reader learns information is presented exceptionally well. The character development that we see through the dialogue, the character interaction as well as how we see them act and react to the situations and circumstances which they encounter really helps their personalities shine brightly. How well we see them as people and the relationship between characters is mindbogglingly brilliant to see play out. The pacing is excellent and as it takes us through the pages introducing the characters, the story and this world they live in you find yourself enrapt in this in no time.

I adore the way we see this being structured and how the layers within the story begin to emerge, grow, evolve and strengthen is absolutely mind numbing. The depth, dimension and complexity that we see within this book is sensational. How we see everything working together to create the story’s ebb & flow as well as how it moves the story forward is impeccably achieved.

The interiors here are absolutely delightfully rendered. The linework is clean, crisp and sharp and how we see the varying weights and techniques being utilised to create the detail within the work that we see is stupendous. How we see backgrounds being utilised throughout enhances and expands the moments beautifully. They also work within the composition of the panels to bring out the depth perception, sense of scale and the overall sense of size and scope to the story. This last one grows exponentially throughout the story and the effect it has on the reader is subtle yet strong. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels show a remarkably talented eye for storytelling. The various hues and tones within the colours being utilised to create the shading, highlights and shadow work we see such a strong eye for how colour works.

This really is one of those unique experiences that keeps you reading and reading and reading without wanting to or having the desire to stop. I mean there’s like 157 pages to this story and you just devour each and every page rooting for Cristal, liking and not liking Billy Joe and never once feeling like you are not a part of this world. I kept reading and I thought this is never going to end and I didn’t care. I kept going as I was too enraptured by the story, by the characters and the ups and downs of what we see. I cannot stress just how much every single person who reads this needs to get this series and read it. It’s completely and utterly phenomenal in how it’s being told and how it is being received.

This is so intelligently written with some of the smartest storytelling and strong dynamic characterisation alongside these interiors that perfectly accompany the words. This needs to be read by everyone pure and simple you’ll thank me for introducing this to you.
