'Stranger Things' is all about bravery, believing in yourself, and friendship

I wonder what peculiar event will happen in Hawkins today.

The first season of Stranger Things aired in 2016. Season 1 revolves around the disappearance of young Will Byers. The town is in hysterics searching every inch for him. A group of young boys comes across a mysterious girl with superpowers. In the craziest week of everyone’s life, they discover a dangerous world.

One of the greatest parts about re-watching a series is that you notice all the hidden meanings that you never saw on the first watch. Stranger Things is an incredible series. Supplied with fantastic talents, Stranger Things is all about bravery, believing in yourself, and friendship.

Finn Wolfhard completely transformed himself into the brave, sensitive, and loyal Mike Wheeler. His abilities as a young actor are tremendous. Wolfhard is a natural at emotion. One of my favorite parts about his character is that he never gives up, always keeping everyone together despite the situation taking a turn for the worst. Mike is a role model.

I am astounded by Millie Bobby Brown. In a challenging role, Brown was very believable as Eleven. Having lived most of her life behind concealed walls, being tested, Eleven’s story is heart-wrenching but remarkable at the same time. Learning to trust Mike and his friends, the most endearing relationship that I have ever seen in media is formed.

Gaten Matarazzo and Caleb McLaughlin each did a terrific job as Dustin and Lucas. They provided excellent moments of comedy and banter. Friendship is a huge theme in Stranger Things. The series showcases a very different aspect of friendship that some media is afraid to show. We’ll have fights or disagreements, but at the end of the day, it’s love.

Winona Ryder’s performance as the frantic Joyce Byers searching endlessly for her son earns the best mom award in my book! She and David Harbour (Hopper) were incredible driving forces in the series. As a cop who is hiding his emotions, Hopper does not give up on his investigation.

Stranger Things is a character show. There is not just one story going on. Natalie Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Cara Buono, Shannon Purser, Joe Crest, and Noah Schnapp delivered exceptional performances. Their storylines require an important decision that evolves growth in a short span of time. You never know who you will become friends with, and how they will change you.

What makes Stranger Things great is that it takes place in the 80's. Listen closely to the background and you’ll hear some recognizable 80's tunes. The setting for the town, houses, a laboratory, and the eerie world met all expectations.

I was not expecting to see well-designed frightening creatures the first time I ever watched the series. The special effects were really cool. From the looks of it, the cast and crew had the time of their lives.

Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer worked endlessly creating a show that all audiences could relate to. The show has gained popularity, recognition, and awards for its incredible ensemble of actors. The series is an equal mixture of comedy, drama, and thriller. They mastered the character dynamics and subtly.

If you have never seen Stranger Things it is easy to get hooked from the first episode. I binge-watched the first two seasons in only two weeks when I first got Netflix. It is an entertaining and emotional series to get together with friends and have a laugh.

Go get lost into this mysterious world. I recommend that you binge-watch the three seasons of Stranger Things. I am looking forward to seeing what happens in season 4.
